(October 13, 2022) Alta Audio has announced the release of its latest creation, the Reference Titanium Hestia II, a design that Alta says represents "a step up from the original acclaimed model."

The Titanium Hestia II, priced at $37,500 in a high-gloss black onyx finish (additional finishes available at moderately higher prices), is a three-way floorstander with drivers arranged in an open-back D’Appolito configuration with a bottom 10” woofer. This finds a single 6” driver placed above a 70 MM ribbon tweeter, with two titanium former 7” lower midranges placed below, ultimately creating a unified wideband pulse response that closely mimics the original sound pulse. In other words, its design is meant to replicate an original recording as faithfully as possible.

Internally, the Titanium Hestia II utilizes an updated crossover similar to that of the Adam floorstanding speaker. In total, the speaker's refresh includes new 7” midrange drivers, an updated amorphous core transformer in the tweeter, silver-coated deoxygenated copper multi-strand variable diameter Teflon insulated internal cabling, and updated crossover components including silver foil capacitors. When in play, the output of the two lower midranges matches the output of the single 6” midrange above the tweeter, thus creating a unified pulse. In the woofer crossover passband, the two 7” lower midrange drivers produce the extended lower midrange and bass response needed to seamlessly blend with the XTL Bass woofer.

“The original Titanium Hestia is continually cited as a favorite by reviewers, dealers, and most importantly, music lovers in the market for an endgame speaker,” says Alta Audio’s Founder, CEO, and Product Designer, Michael Levy. “The updated version improves upon the original while maintaining the musicality that makes the Hestia more of an instrument than just another tower speaker. It’s the ultimate expression of our capabilities as a designer of advanced-technology speakers for the most demanding listeners on the planet.”

By adding these new elements in a re-tuned crossover based on the concepts incorporated in the company’s recently introduced Adam speakers, Alta says it's smoothed out the impedance, making the Titanium Hestia II less sensitive to amplifiers while increasing the phase linearity of the design. In addition, the speaker's bass response is more controlled, deeper, and more dynamic than the original Titanium Hestia.

The distinctive angles of the Titanium Hestia II, which stands 53.75”H x 15” W at the bottom x 8 1/2” W at the top x 18” D at the bottom, contributes to its ability to reproduce the detail, dimensionality, and feel of a live performance. The speaker natively offers a frequency response of 28Hz to 47kHz (90 dB / 2.83 Volts @ 1 Meter, 4 ohms), and carries a recommended power handling between 50 – 400 watts per channel, bi-wired or bi-amped.
