(June 7, 2019) Klipsch has deep roots. Originally founded in 1946 by an innovator named Paul. W. Klipsch, the company has spent decades fine tuning the in-home audio experience, forever striving to harness the raw power and palpable emotion of a live music experience. During this time, Klipsch has developed a legendary reputation for quality and craftsmanship, along with speaker designs that are incredibly easy to drive. It has also expanded its offerings to include portable, home theater, wireless, and lifestyle designs.

Fitting into the life style category, Klipsch has developed a stable of soundbar products that range from the affordable to the exotic. New to this stable are the BAR 40 and BAR 48, which are designed to “enhance movies and music with clarity and realism,” smashing the audio experience offered by typical television speakers.

The BAR 48 ($499, pictured) is a slimline soundbar design that carries left, right, and center channels, along with an 8” wireless subwoofer module. Standing just 2.8” tall and stretching some 48” in length, the BAR 48 can mount or sit discretely below a TV. Onboard technologies include Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, and DTS-HD audio, with the added ability of 5.1 performance when using Klipsch’s optional SURROUND 3 speakers (MSRP $249/pair).

The BAR 40 is slightly less expensive than the BAR 48 ($299) and measures 8” shorter. It’s a 2.1 soundbar that utilizes a 6.5” subwoofer for low-end duty. It carries onboard Dolby Audio decoding along with enhanced virtual surround modes for a boost in movie realism. And, like the BAR 48, it has Bluetooth functionality for simple streaming of music and other personal audio.

The BAR 40 and 48 are currently available from Best Buy, Crutchfield, and through Klipsch.com. It will go live at other authorized retailers soon.
