(August 29, 2023) Kaleidescape has announced a new lineup of movie servers set to ship under the "Terra Prime" designation. In addition to a new board set with improved processing and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, Terra Prime models are available with either high-capacity hard drives or a solid state option.

That's right, Kscape fans, you can now enjoy the benefits of a solid state drive, including better durability, faster speeds, and less operating noise. While the company's enterprise-grade high-capacity hard drives have proven to be extremely reliable, the option for solid state technology definitely provides another level of ruggedness to the overall Terra/Strato-C system.

The Terra Prime solid state lineup stand as the fastest and quietest movie servers available, which the company says makes them ideal for yachts and large installations. They can download Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies in as little as four minutes while serving up to 25 simultaneous playback zones. The larger Terra Prime SSD 31TB can store approximately 500 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies, and the compact 8TB model stores roughly 125 4K films.

Terra Prime models with a high-capacity hard drive can download a high-bitrate 4K movie in as little as eight minutes with service for up to five simultaneous playback zones (compact) or up to ten simultaneous playback zones (full-size). They're available in three different sizes, with the 88TB version storing roughly 1,450 Kaleidescape high-bitrate 4K movies and the 48TB storing 800. The Terra Prime HDD 22TB has a capacity for nearly 350 4K films, while the 8TB version can house 130.

Q3 2023 Pricing is as follows:
  • Strato C (Model No. K0217-0000), $3.995
  • Terra Prime 8TB (K0114-0008), $4.995
  • Terra Prime 8TB SSD (K0114-0008-SSD), $9,995
  • Terra Prime 22TB (K0114-0022), $9.995
  • Terra Prime 48TB (K0112-0048), $15.995
  • Terra Prime 88TB (K0112-0088), $24.995
  • Terra Prime 31TB SSD (K0112-0031-SSD), $24.995
  • Terra Prime Chassis Silver (K0112-0000-S), $7,995

Yes, Robert’s shop is a great place to buy from! I’ve bought a lot of gear from him over the years… top notch across the board.
