JL sounds output question

Hey guys

I’m new to REW so trying to digest everything, there is a lot!

I’m only interested in 2 channel for room and speaker measurements and am using a UMIK-1 microphone with the 90 degree cal file. I’ve connected my Windows laptop via USB to my DAC which in turn is connected to my per amp. When going to the preferences I see the output device “Speakers JL sounds Hi-Rez Audio 2.0” and “EXCL: Speakers JL sounds…” which is obviously from my DAC.

Firstly, is it fine to use the JL Sounds output device? I have configured this as my default in the Sound settings inside windows per the instructions given although wasn’t sure about this and using this with the Java driver selected?

I seem to be getting some measurements so it must be working.

I also wasn’t sure for doing measurements whether I should be setting in the “Noise” section, under “Pink random” choosing Full Range OR Speaker CAL (500 to 2000Hz)?

Best picking the device entries starting EXCL which use WASAPI exclusive drivers. If you are using the RTA then full range pink periodic noise is best, but to get the most information use sweep measurements.
