Hello all,
I heard about AV NIRVANA through the Bright Side Home Theater podcast, which I discovered about 1 year 1/2 ago and which i love.
I enjoy Michael Scott’s reviews and Todd’s podcast a lot.
I am a 46 year old male French home theater lover and physical media collector since 1997 living in the North East of France close the Luxembourg border.
Always loved watching movies since i was a kid, first real movie I saw in the theatre was Star Wars A New Hope when it was re-released in cinemas in 1983 when Return of the Jedi came out. My jaw was on the floor and have been a fan of cinema ever since.
I rented plenty of VHS tapes in videostores back in the day and was intrigued by Laserdiscs as they looked amazing (at the time).
In 1997 I finally bought a laserdisc player which I hooked up to a 2 channel receiver.
In 1998 I bought a 5.1 home theater system (Denon receiver, JMLab speakers and Energy subwoofer) and was blown away by the results. I remember the first movie I watched after hooking up the speakers is “The Long Kiss Goodnight” laserdisc in 5.1 Dolby Digital. I have been hooked to the home theater sound ever since.
I gave all my laserdiscs away except a few I keep on top of my shelves and can barely watch a DVD due to the poor image quality.
Very happy with 4K blu-ray and regular blu-rays when the 4k version does not exist. Bought several Denon receivers over the years, love Denon.
I have a 7.1.4 set-up with my latest Denon AVR-A110 receiver with Focal speakers which sound amazing.
Anyway, looking forward to read your posts.
