(October 8, 2019) Integra has beefed-up its Dot 3 offerings with the release of three new power-packed models. The trio, which includes the DRC-R1.3 11.2-Channel Processor ($2,499), DRX-R1.3 11.2-Channel Network AV Receiver ($3,299), and DRX-7.3 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver ($2,399), was showcased last month at CEDIA 2019 and is loaded with heaps of modern tech.
All three units share quite a few attributes, including full combability with IMAX Enhanced for playback of IMAX Enhanced digitally remastered content. They also support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats utilizing speaker arrays as large as 7.2.4 channels, with full 4K/60p BT.2020 video playback laced with HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG DHR, 4:4:4 color, the latest HDCP 2.3 streaming copy protection, and eARC functionality as defined by the HDMI 2.1 specification. Additionally, the inclusion of 4K HDBaseT allows for the use of Cat 5/6/7 wiring for transmission of 4K video up to 100 meters away.
Of course, modern multi-function gear isn't complete without voice control and streaming capabilities, and all three new Dot 3 models do not disappoint. Owners can enjoy voice control through Siri enabled devices and Google Assistant, with broad streaming capabilities via by Chromecast built-in, Works with Sonos, Airplay 2, and DTS-Play Fi.
The THX Certified Ultra DRC-R1.3 is an 11.2-channel processor, which means it sacrifices onboard amplification for purer output capabilities (note, Integra's newly announced DRA-R1 11-channel standalone amplifier is due to ship in early 2020). The backside of the R1.3 features gold-plated 11.2-channel XLR outputs and unbalanced pre-outs, a phono input, and three HDMI outputs for Zone 1 and 2 use.
Internally, Integra highlights the DRC-R1.3’s high-class DACs, which are comprised of an AK4490 768 kHz/32-bit stereo DAC for front left and right channels, dual AK4458 768 kHz/32-bit multichannel DACs for other main channels, and a separate AK4388 DAC for Zone audio. The unit supports 384 kHz/32 bit D/A conversion.
Integra's new receiver duo is headlined by the DRX-R1.3, which is THX Ultra2 Certified. This particular AVR sports 140 watts per channel (8 ohms, 2 channels driven). Integra touts the receiver’s build quality, noting copper screws that lock modular circuitry blocks to a double-skinned insulated frame, strong internal bracing, floating circuit boards, custom shielded power supply and amplification modules, and 32-bit digital signal processors and DACs.
The step-down DRX-7.3 gets THX’s Certified Select stamp of approval, offering 135 watts of power (8 ohms, 2 channels) across nine channels of native output. The receiver does carry 11.2-channels of processing, however, so owners can use an outboard amplifier to achieve 7.2.4 channels of playback.
