how to connect minidsp shd to REW on a macOS running ventura?

first off, i will appreciate any help greatly, im a tech moron, so tech language will be lost on me

Installed latest beta version of REW and java, connected umik1 and calibration file. at first(first hour or so) REW also let me connect my minidsp shd(usb-A to usb-B), although it lost connection a few times. but I couldn't get REW to output sounds through it. got frustrated and shut down REW. tried again, but now REW can't find the minidsp shd.
i have tried 2 different usb-a to usb-b cables, does not change anything.
what am I doing wrong? any suggestions ?

Did you select USB as the input on the SHD?

Can you send audio through the SHD from other sources on the PC?

hmm, I could a few days ago(dirac calibration...).Now shd to dirac connection is also an issue too, when I try to connect minidsp shd software to dirac it other doesn't connect or connections falls out pretty soon after connection. if I unplug shd from mains power and connects again it lets me connect but connections fails within a minut or so.

hmm so either my Mac or my minidsp is the issue I assume. don't own any other computers and I have never used my Mac for anything but office work until a few days ago when I finally got around to trying out the minidsp and dirac software.

any ideas are welcome, if not I will hopefully figure it out and take it from there

There might be an answer on the SHD forum, or through miniDSP support. Sometimes the devices need to be reset through the miniDSP software.
