I've heard this one for guns on many occasions, but it would also apply to home theater.

If something happens to me, please don't let my wife sell my audio equipment for what I told her I paid for it.

Of course, my wife doesn't know what most of mine cost, except she was with me when I wrote the check for the McIntosh amps, so she's knows how much those cost.
