Since we are working/stuck at home due to COVID restrictions as well as other local various quarantine rules, we decided to do some home remodeling this summer.

We were actually planning to do some home remodeling for sometime but never really started it. Just kept delaying it over the years.

Now, with the house being over 20 years old, it was time to do a face lift so to speak. (things were actually falling apart). So, it was time.

I will upload some video's for your enjoyment as each phase of the remodeling gets completed.

We still have some more renovations to go thru till we complete the entire project,

Just takes time to do the coordination with the various contractors, as well as dealing with delay's in materials as well as cancellations of orders due to materials not being available, etc.

COVID is wreaking havoc throughout the supply chain.

Painting was done (agreeable gray for the walls).

kitchen remodeling. Updating to a more modern look.

Update the flooring throughout the first floor. Removed carpet and put in tile.

Update half bath (powder room) which is located downstairs.

Update full bathroom downstairs which is used more for guests.

Updated the fireplace area to complement the floor update.

Updated kids bathroom which is located upstairs.

Removed tub and put in standing shower.

Thanks guys. We picked the colors and the tile section as a family. We let the kids have input as well but overall, my wife was the final approval regardless of what anybody selected.

As with home theater upgrades, WAF is a must. lol.

Selecting the right items was actually the hardest part. We went to countless tile/granite stores and to be honest, after going to so many, it felt at least to me, they all look alike after awhile. lol.

And then would you believe, Murphy's law came in.. What can go wrong, went wrong.

Our fridge, Kenmore Elite, stop working. It was only 3 years old and the compressor went out (LG compressor) and since the fridge was under warranty (Sears extended warranty), I had to wait a month for a new compressor.

Interesting thing about this.. We went to just about every appliance store to get a freezer (any type) or a smaller fridge (under $1K) as a backup and keep in the garage, none can be found.

Apparently, when folks were running around taking up all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer, guess what? They also, went and bought every freezer and fridge (under $1K) for storage purposes in the greater area.

Luckily, I have some good neighbors and borrowed 3 different dorm fridges that I kept in the garage to help us store food for a month while the main fridge was out.

Our Amana dryer stop working. I waited for parts but they kept delaying so after about a month of waiting, we decided to just get a new dryer (Whirlpool).

We have 2 water heaters in the attic, they both broke, started leaking water thru the pipes. Had to get both of them replaced. Granted, they lasted 20 years, so I can't really complain.

For the kids bathroom, the mirror with the lights, I ordered from Home Depot but they kept delaying and eventually it got cancelled. Ended up ordering from Amazon, which I should have done in the first place, but even that order got messed up. They sent another type of mirror. Had to contact Amazon and they had to pick up that unit and give us our correct unit. Their customer service was great thou and understanding of the situation.

Currently the master bathroom is WIP.. We are expanding the shower area and updating the rest of the bathroom with everything new. Will upload video once that is complete.

After that, we are changing our stairs. Removing carpet and doing wood.

And this is why I can't ever get anything done. Can't imagine the headache of trying to deal with a project like this and going to work every day. I guess being at home was a good thing. At least for this project.

The lockdown/quarantine for covid actually was a blessing for me. I was able to work from home Monday thru Friday and I agree, if that was not possible, I couldn't have done this project.

Another remodel update completed.

We redid the master bathroom. Expanded the shower area and made it all into a shower room.

Everything is porcelain tile for the floor throughout the house remodeling including here as well as the shower room wall in the master bathroom.

So far so good.

Just a few more things to complete and we will be done.
