On our latest edition of HDMI Test Bench, we step into the world of SVS and analyze 2M and 3M versions of its SoundPath Ultra HDMI 4K cable using Murideo's 8K Fox & Hound Test kit and other resources. SVS first launched its SoundPath cables roughly one year ago, offering customers access to 1M, 2M, and 3M lengths with pricing topping out at $49. Materials include OFC copper, an attractive cotton braided sheath, aluminum alloy braided mylar shielding, and gold platted connectors. And like other SVS products the cables are backed by a generous money-back guarantee warranty.

Our video review dissects these cables from packaging to real-world physical measurements and actual performance, and we give our recommendation of what size you should consider purchasing.

How do they perform? Watch and find out!

Wow great video. I never knew about scanning the HDMI labels, nor did I know about that 2 meter cable length.

Thanks @Arburguy! Definitely helpful to have some equipment to challenge and verify the cable's performance capabilites. Murideo is a leader in the field and allows to us to actually push through 8K/60Hz video. If there's any shortcoming, its the fact that it tops out at 40Gbps. But, the truth is, most equipment tops out at 40Gbps at the moment. Not to mention, 48Gbps chips are a lot more expensive.

The cable length is really source/display dependent. A cable shorter than 2M might work fine... or you might end up with issues. It's a total crapshoot. Unfortuantely, you could have a 1M that's technically fine, but a source/display that needs a bit of extra length to properly run thorugh processes that let each piece of equipment work in a agreeable way. So, opting for a 2M+ cable eliminates the cable as being a problem in the chain.

Makes sense. Thanks to tell you the truth I have had some issues with some 1m ones, so very likely. I’m going to look at ordering these ones you tested.

Todd... you mentioned cables less than 2 meters having some issues between the source and the display. Did Murideo say anything about between components, such as from a Blu-ray player to a processor? Just curious if it has something to do with the displays. I've always used the 1 meter cables between my streaming devices, Dish Joey 4K and my Panny player... never had any issues with any of the various cables I've used in the past.

I like the design and finish on these SVS cables... think I'll order up some.

Sonnie, it sounds like it can be an issue between anything. Probably best to think of it as a rule of thumb, as it's not specifically a cable issue, but more of an issue that could exist between two pieces of equipment.

It's definitely possible to use a 1M cable and not have any issues, but if your system does exhibit an issue, there's a possiblity that it could be the result of the cable being too short (among any other number of possibilities). Murideo's suggest of 2M or longer is meant to eliminate cable length (or, in this case, lack there of) as the problem.
