Looks like there are maybe 7-8 movies in that series. I never have watched them. Are they worth it... and what's it all about?

The series is based on the books and if you read the books first, as with any movie based on books, it is better. But, of course, not necessary.

Also, there are two prequels before the official Harry Potter movie series starts that are set time wise chronologically below, the two Fantastic Beasts movies listed below, but considering, they were made after the Harry Potter movies, not necessary to watch them first, since they were made later but are set prior that is all. :)

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (set in 1926) (movie was made in 2016)
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (set in 1927) (movie was made in 2018)
  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (set in 1991-92)
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (set in 1992-93)
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (set in 1992-94)
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (set in 1994-95)
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (set in 1995-96)
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (set in 1996-97)
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (set in 1997-98)
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (set in 1997-98)

It is your basic story of good (Harry) vs evil (Voldemort) in an alternative universe where magic is seen.

It is an entertaining movie. You can see the first movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone and decide from that point if it is worth continuing or not.

I've contemplated for years on whether to start watching them or not. Thanks for the info.

My daughters both read the book series and we own the movies on 4K... they're popular. It's a good story with an interesting cast of characters. Definitely, one that has cemented itself as one of the great fantasy series ever!

I know the books won't interest me, but somewhat curious about the movies. I may try one and see where it goes.

Sonnie has left the bottom side of the rock I guess.
