Golf Controversy

I don't watch golf but apparently there is some controversy happening now due to new dress rules for the ladies who play professional golf.

Per yahoo,

"Female golfers angered by strict new dress code banning 'plunging necklines' and revealing skirts".

Golf is not my cup of tea so even if they didn't make the new rules, I would not have watched it anyways. lol.
So, what do you guys think? Anybody here who watch Golf? Any thoughts? Is this a good rule or bad?

Being a Christian I think women should dress modestly, so I like any rule that will keep them better clothed, as they should be. I don't watch it either, but the other day I stumbled across a woman putting and I think the camera guy was intentionally trying to see up her skirt, although about 2 inches and you could have seen everything... not sure how she would bend over and pick up her golf ball without flashing everyone.

There is a time and place for skin to be shown so to speak, say in a sport like beach volleyball or swimming.

But for golf, I think conservative clothing is best, similar to tennis.

Granted, more guys will most likely follow on TV if more skin was shown but really, not sure how much more.. It is golf after all.

+1 Sonnie, clothing should not be revealing. Modest & appropriate for the venue. After all, young people are watching...what are you trying to tell them?

I believe the female golfers who are protesting the new rule changes are most likely the one's who want to elevate their public profile, their star power so to speak by showing more skin as a means of getting more publicity/attention..

Unfortunately I think that golf is one of those sports which is highly controlled by the male gender, and looked on as an old society or members only club. Women working themselves into golf was not an easy accomplishment. I think they are still pushing, or even pushing the envelope now that its present, one of those ways is by provocative dress (the see me now message), also I am sure it is to gain notoriety and some personal attention. I agree with dress code, I have not looked at what is being purposed though. As long as the dress code is reasonable why not. And I am not saying individual personal taste, I am referring to reasonable restriction which would prevent unreasonable exposure. When you say "young people are watching", have you seen how young people dress? We have seen it in tennis were someone pushes the limit with dress code and they are asked to change or forfeit the match. The world is changing quickly around us.
