(July 23, 2017) GoldenEar Technology has announced that its new Triton Reference tower speakers ($4,249 each) have been shipped to over 100 dealers in the North American market and distributors in 24 export markets; the speakers are available and ready for demo and auditions.

GoldenEar is widely known for delivering high-end sound at affordable prices. The Triton Reference is the company’s latest flagship speaker, improving upon design and performance standards set by the company’s previous top model (Triton One). And while GoldenEar originally embarked on a mission to develop a speaker capable of challenging competition that resides in the six-figure realm, it ultimately focused energies on creating a model intended to redefine quality and sonic performance at a price point accessible to more buyers.

The speaker made its first public appearance at CES 2017, and feedback from both press and early owners has been characteristically solid. In fact, one early adopter publicly stated that the speaker’s sound is “honestly majestic… heavenly, in fact,” in an online review.

The Triton Reference’s physical styling falls in line with GoldenEar’s other high-performance speakers, featuring an oblong 3/32-inch thick steel plate base and a tall thin stature (58-inches). However, unlike other Triton speakers, the Reference doesn’t have a thin external sock. The speaker’s monocoque cabinet surface is fully exposed, boasting a gorgeous hand-rubbed piano gloss black lacquer finish. According to GoldenEar, the guts of the cabinet feature complex internal bracing and damping using long-fiber lamb’s wool and Dracon damping material.

Sonically, GoldenEar has loaded the Triton Reference with newness, including components created specifically for the speaker. Buyers will find new 6-inch high definition cast-basket upper bass/midrange drivers with focused-field magnet structures paired with four new 9.5-inch x 10.5-inch quadratic planar infrasonic radiators. And the high-end is driven by new high gauss High Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeters with a newly designed fully balanced crossover.

According to GoldenEar, the Triton Reference is capable of deep-reaching bass extension flat to 20 Hz, high frequency performance to 35 kHz, and an easy to drive sensitivity of 93.25 dB. The speaker’s integrated subwoofer section is controlled by an internal 1800-watt Class D power amp and a 56-bit DSP control unit. This represents an awesome combination of power and performance.

GoldenEar has graciously offered to ship AV NIRVANA a review sample this coming fall, so stay tuned for a full thorough evaluation of this amazing new speaker! In the meantime, visit GoldenEar Technology for more information.

They look like they are roughly 6 ft long?

That's some serious audio power right there!
