Late last year, GoldenEar unveiled a new compact subwoofer called SuperSub X. According to GoldenEar's Sandy Gross, this model is the result of years of development. In fact, the SuperSub XL (a larger version of SuperSub X) was a design bridge intended to lead directly to this more compact version. The sub's potent low frequency capabilities are driven by GoldenEar’s dual plane patented inertially-balanced driver array. I had a chance to hear the SuperSub X in action at CEDIA 2016 and the demo session was shockingly good, especially considering the reasonably large demo room was running a single SuperSub X.

The sub is currently finishing a break-in process and will be used in two reviews (one featuring the sub and one featuring the sub used with GoldenEar's 3D Array XL soundbar).

Packaging for the sub is robust, featuring double boxing, form fitting styrofoam, and a white cloth bag (to protect its piano gloss exterior. Feel free to ask questions/make requests below!

GoldenEar nailed it on the styling front... this is a sub that's sized AND styled to look great in a living room setting. High WAF.

It does look nice and small footprint should be great with most peoples room constraints. Not everyone has a LOT of room for subs or want a large sub. So, looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

I'm curious also. I've been breaking it in (it was recommended to get 50 hrs. of break-in)...

Based on what I've heard during the break-in period, it has SERIOUS power. I can't wait to turn it loose in the home theater room.
