FuboTV looks interesting and we can get it with either our ROKU, Apple 4K, or several other avenues.

The Elite package includes all of our local channels and pretty close to all the important channels we want, plus 1,000 hours of cloud storage for recording. Only 79.99/mo... much less than our Dish Network, although we would have to purchase a few more ROKU boxes... or one of our TV's may be a SMART TV which may not require a ROKU.

The only channels missing are History and AXS, which AXS is free on ROKU, so we only have to figure out how to get History. On the ROKU it is shows it is only available if you have a subscription thru cable or satellite.

Must have channels list
Local Networks
HGTV
DIY
Hallmark
Hallmark Drama
Fox News
Newsmax (free on Roku)
History (not available on FuboTV)
A&E
TLC
AXS (free on Roku)
GAC
TNT (not available on FuboTV or Vidgo)
SEC Network
ESPN
ESPN 2

Sling is missing several channels... as is Philo.
Hulu Live is missing the Hallmark channels.

Looks like we'd need a combination of at least two services to get all that we want and have cloud storage for recording.

Looks like the least expensive method to get History is $25 per month via Philo TV, which offers some of the other channels my wife has to have, which also might allow us to get a lower plan with the Fubo.

lol... Well after calling Dish they really dug deep on the discounts and cut us by $60 per month for 6 months with no contract.

Still looking at other options... Vidgo also has History and looks interesting.

I see you have found the allure of streaming …. I have been happy since I left dish. They had great service but just like cable always digging deeper into your pockets.

Well for 6 months they've got any other combination I can come up with beat, especially if I get some of the Amazon Fire Sticks and save the additional $21 in equipment.

I do like the idea of streaming though... as our Internet rarely goes out... VERY rarely, while a hard rain will shut Dish down in a heartbeat, so I still may try some combo of services to see if I can get all our "must have" channels. I can do some trials. I think the biggest thing for my wife is having all of the channels in one guide (convenience) and not having to flip back and forth between providers, going back and forth to menus, etc.

I've been a Comcast/Xfinity customer for decades. Ultimately, I'm too lazy to go through the trouble of switching...besides, we only need to have one box in our home because we can stream Comcast using Roku sticks. Every year I renegotiate our price, and I start by calling the cancellation line.

The biggest issue for me, though, has been access to the regional sports networks. Access to the Orioles and Capitals sports networks is a must. And, as of today, the only way to get those channels is through Cable or Sattelite.

I see FuboTV is doing lots of regional sports... but not sure about Orioles and Capitals.

These regional sports networks are dug in and clawing for money. It's annoying how limiting their deals with cable can be. ^ This brings hope, tho!

I’ve got Charter/Spectrum for cable, internet and landline and have wondered about switching to some form of streaming for TV. I also have an old Samsung flip phone on a $5/month grandfathered senior rate cell plan with another company, but it stays off unless needed for specific needs or domestic travel. One thing that keeps me from dropping cable TV is that it’s a package deal; without all three the price for the remaining two go up enough to kill the savings. So while the cable has way more channels than I need, I’m not seeing any advantage to switching to streaming (my TV is a top of the line Samsung F8000 model from nearly a decade ago, but its Smart capabilities are early, clumsy and slow).

I took another look at Sling TV and it actually has everything we need with the exception of local networks, which is very important to us. We could get them via OTA antenna, but we don't want to be fooling with an antenna, plus we need the ability to record local channels to the cloud. Still no perfect solution as an alternative to Dish.

I dumped DirecTV a few years ago and have never looked back. I use YouTubeTV and Philo to get all of the channels we require. I believe the savings was over $100 a month. I did have the one of the higher end packages though. FUBO wasn’t all that developed when I switched. Initially I had that PlayStation package for streaming before they folded - can’t recall what it was called.

YouTubeTV does not carry any of the Sinclair owned RSNs and I support YTTV in that fight! There are ways of getting around that which I won’t discuss here.

I've never heard of FuboTV, but thanks to you, I became interested in this platform. We will have to try. By the way, my son is constantly looking for some platforms where you can watch movies and TV series for free. It's illegal, right? I keep telling him about it, and he doesn't care. He constantly uses a VPN and watches movies without paying for a subscription. And one day, the provider called us and said that if they didn't stop watching movies in our house without paying for a subscription, they would call the police and already deal with us. I have one question, does the provider from the Internet see everything that we are doing? And how to get my son not to do the things he's doing now.

Are there any other sites where you can watch TV series and movies except on netflix?
Bunches of them... Hulu, Philo, Fubo, Amazon, and there are others that I can't think of at the moment.
