Does anyone use a Fire TV Stick. Amazon will no longer be supporting the Prime Video app on my Sony Blu-ray Disc Player and a lot of other Sony products. Wonder what is going on there? Anyway, they have offered me a $25 credit towards select Fire TV devices. I really don't take advantage of Prime streaming very often, mostly due to the horrendous user interface, so I'm not really wanting to spend much if any money on it. I have also heard they have a pretty bad buffering issue, I've also heard they are great. Don't buy into some of those reviews so I thought I'd ask you all.

I had an Amazon streaming device for a short period of time. I’d recommend not going that route. I’ve found just about everything else much better than the Amazon device. Roku sticks are fairly cheap.

I have a fire cube that we received as a giveaway at a gala... still in its box! I plan on wiring it into my home theater system.

I’m assuming Fire/fire stick is similar to Roku. We have a Roku 4K stick that seems to work fairly well (and you can stream Amazon on it)

For as little as I bother with Amazon I might just plug my MacBook Pro into my TV. I dunno ??? Was hoping for a better solution.

Fire TV Sticks are pretty popular in my area since people usually jailbreak them and stop paying for cable or dish.

I have a friend who uses one....he showed me all the stuff he has access too.....I was mind boggled. He's using some IPTV app. or something.

There are so many apps out there for the Fire TV is crazy. However, not all of them are good quality. I don’t have a Fire TV, but I do help my family members jailbreak them for them. It’s super easy.

Really? For some reason I was thinking a Fire Stick would only be good for Prime?

I hope you are kidding! If you aren’t, I would suggest to search YouTube for the FireTV apps. If you do end up using a jailbroken FireTV, I would suggest using a VPN as well.

I don't think he's kidding. A lot of us don't venture down that other path especially when it requires the use of a VPN. Although I've been looking into getting a VPN...

Yes and no on the kidding. I know it has other apps and as for "good for Prime" I suspect, like all their other products, it would be skewed toward their own content and a bunch of unwanted advertising.
I have been using a VPN for years, not because of jailbreaking or other questionable activities, simply for more privacy. For what it's worth I like Private Internet Access.

I don't really care for the FIre TV jailbreaking apps either. Like I've mentioned before, I've jailbroken a few for family members. I do agree about using a VPN. I'm still in the process of setting up my network, and I am trying to figure out about going with hardware VPN rather that using software. I have not upgrade my router yet since I am waiting for the new WiFi 6 routers to become less expensive. I'm going to buy a router that supports VPN. I've been doing some research and looking into Raspberry Pi 4 and using VPN with that. I'm still doing some research to see how that works.
