Hi all,

Apologies if this is blindingly obvious, but can someone tell me the slope of REW's peak (PK) EQ filters?

My EQ plugin gives the option of 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 and 96 dB/octave - which one should I use?

Many thanks,

James

Peak filters do not have a slope, they have a Q or bandwidth. They may be called Parametric filters in your plugin. The filters you listed from your plugin sound like LP or HP crossover filters.

Thanks for the quick reply. I use FabFilter Pro Q3 parametric EQ. It calls peak filters 'bell' filters. They have frequency, Q, and gain controls, plus slope - see attached screenshots. By their shape, I'm assuming 12dB/octave is correct, but just wanted to make sure.

Odd thing to do. They are 2nd order filters, slope may be a proxy for order so 12 dB/oct is probably right.
