One of the rooms featured a powerful cinema configuration built around Krix MX-30i LCR speakers with matching 30i subwoofers, driven by a StormAudio processor and a mix of Benchmark AHB2 amplifiers and MC² Audio amplification for the subwoofer system. Video duties were handled by a madVR Envy Extreme paired with Epson’s QL7000 laser projector, projecting onto a Stewart Filmscreen Harmony G3 acoustically transparent screen, while a Kaleidescape player served as the reference source for uncompressed movie playback.
A second demo room shifted the focus to a more unconventional concept built around Theory Audio Design. Instead of a traditional speaker layout, Dreamscapes demonstrated the company’s SB85 soundbar mounted behind an acoustically transparent screen. Built using the internal architecture of three SB25 speakers, the soundbar challenges the notion that architectural speakers can't deliver true cinematic dynamics. The discussion also touches on the engineering lineage connecting Theory and Pro Audio Technology through designer Paul Hales, and why published measurement data and system modeling play a critical role when designing high-output theater systems for real-world media rooms, where space and placement constraints often dictate the final layout.
