(July 6, 2026) AV NIRVANA Live is set to welcome Dirac this Wednesday, July 8, at 12:00 PM Eastern for a special live conversation focused on the latest developments in Dirac Live, including the arrival of Dirac Live Active Room Treatment on PC and Mac.

Joining the stream will be Nilo Casimiro Ericsson, Product Manager for Dirac Live, who will help explain what this new software-based path means for enthusiasts, integrators, and anyone looking to bring advanced room acoustic correction into systems where Dirac Live is not already built in. The discussion will center on Dirac Live Processor, the newly renamed evolution of Dirac Live Room Correction Suite, which now supports Dirac Live Room Correction, Dirac Live Bass Control, and Dirac Live Active Room Treatment.

That’s a significant expansion for Dirac’s most advanced room acoustics technology. Rather than requiring Dirac Live to be built into a processor, AVR, or other hardware component, Dirac Live Processor allows users to apply correction from a PC or Mac before audio reaches the sound system. For computer-based playback, studio setups, and certain enthusiast systems, that opens the door to Dirac’s full suite of room optimization tools using software and a measurement microphone.

We’ll also talk about Dirac’s broader momentum across the home audio space, including recent expansion to more Denon and NAD devices, miniDSP’s Tide16, and Tonewinner’s AT-600. And, since no Dirac conversation is complete without getting into the low end, we’ll dig into some technical questions about bass, room behavior, and how Active Room Treatment uses the full speaker array to help manage resonances and decay.

The stream will be available live on YouTube and Facebook. Viewers are invited to join the conversation, watch in real time, and submit questions for Nilo and the AV NIRVANA Live crew.

I have a couple of questions if they fit in to the conversation…

Can the PC version use higher sample rates and if so does it have any effect on the resolution of the filters?

Does the PC version have more filter taps available?

In Dirac’s opinion, can the PC version produce a noticeably better result or is it on par with versions on current processors/AVRs?

Could the PC version be used with an AVR with multiple sub outs? If not, is there a work around like connecting subs to, say, unused surround back channels and designating them as subs in the software?

Has there been any discussion at Dirac about allowing ART to correct to higher than the current 150Hz limit?

Is there a way now, or any plans in the future, to control the amount of decay reduction Dirac ART provides?

Thanks Todd! I’m supposed to be working at the appointed hour, but will most definitely watch later if I can’t catch it live.

For sure - I’ll see what I can work in!

As for this “Has there been any discussion at Dirac about allowing ART to correct to higher than the current 150Hz limit?”

I’ve asked about this in the past and the basic answer is they’d love to do it, but it’s likely too hard to implement in a home environment. At least for now. If we get a chance to bring it up, we will
