Debating if I should get a MiniDSP 2x4HD to flatten out these raw results...

*No Smoothing... if I use psychoacoustic smoothing, I can really trick myself into thinking I'm done. LOL.

Subwoofer: SVS PB-1000 Pro 12" Ported
Red: Previous setup in best location, facing forward
Yellow: Random attempt at backwards facing (into wall) in same best location (front of room, between center and right front speaker

I was very surprised to see how much better turning my subwoofer around made the frequency response for my SINGLE home theater subwoofer... even in the same location. It makes me feel like I don't NEED a 2nd subwoofer or even DSP based on audible results.

There are definitely some major dB swings (nearing 10dB!!!) but in just simple listening, all of my test movie clips sound awesome and I'm happy to not have any serious nulls. I'm sure a second subwoofer would help but I definitely don't want/need any more bass and if I wanted a flatter curve, I know a MiniDSP 2x4HD could easily make a nice flat curve around 90dB by bringing down anything above 90dB between 15Hz - 80Hz where my crossover will be set.

This is obviously my MLP but on my large sofa, all other seating positions ranged from above average to average... no seating position being below average. One other seat on the sofa was about 90% as good as the MLP.

The SVS PEQ is fun but I don't think 3 bands is enough... if I don't get the MiniDSP, I'll just do what I can with it... but for an untreated measurement, I'm pleasantly surprised by this new subwoofer I recently acquired.

So... I'm torn between just enjoying it as is and keeping it simple, or getting a MiniDSP to smile more knowing I have a nice equalized subwoofer? By the way, I do own a 2x4HD already but I stole it from my HT to use in my desktop 2.2 music listening setup. My HT Pre-Pro is an older Marantz AV 7005 so Audyssey isn't very impressive on it and I don't want Atmos so the cost to add Dirac Live isn't worth it. I am considering a DDRC-88A though as a stop gap solution... but again, pretty content with current state so I may just leave it.

In another thread you said that you had convolution filters from Home Audio Fidelity... Which leads me to think, if you have a convolution engine, what is stopping you form using that convolution engine to correct your entire frequency response (SPL) as well as Phase, using REW and rePhase?
...
Of course, if you are happy with the way your kit sounds, don't worry about "seeing" a perfectly flat response... It is time for you to enjoy a little AVNirvana...

I actually just got HAF filters for when using Roon and the system as 2.1... I did inquire with him on getting filters for all my HT channels but he said by using a MiniDSP... I basically only get PEQ so not as "good" as using a convolution engine like I can with Roon.

I suppose I can look into rePhase... not familiar with it. Or I can maybe get the DDRC-88A for Dirac Live

Yeah, I get into weird "boredom" states where I try to find fun projects that aren't too expensive... even though I have no desire for Atmos or even HDMI 2.1 capability in my AVR (sources are a 1080i DirecTV box and an NVidia Shield Pro that connects directly to TV for HDR with a HDMI splitter sending TrueHD and DTS-MA to my Marantz AV7005 Pre/Pro)... I should just get a Dirac compatible Pre/Pro to keep it simple. While a new AV Pre-Pro is a lot of money I don't want to spend, a used one may end up costing less than cobbling together a MiniDSP DDRC-8A solution.

In fact, even "wanting" Dirac is more out of curiosity than need... the room sounds great as is and is definitely not lacking anywhere but when I look at REW graphs, LOL. And HAF via Roon Convolution makes my music listening optimal already.

Today's "free" experiments will be taking a MiniDSP 2x4HD and adding a small Monitor Audio subwoofer to the SVS PB-1000 Pro and HT and aligning/EQing them... then I should convince myself I'm done (for now). Or maybe adding a Monolith 10" THX subwoofer for $600 if the Monitor Audio can't "fill in the small gaps".
