CAF 2018: VAC Set to Introduce Its New 450i iQ Integrated Amplifier

(October 31, 2018) Time for a peek into ultra-high-end audio, a land of rarified air where components and speakers cost more than most luxury cars. One of the segment’s more recognizable players is Valve Amplification Company (VAC), which joined forces with Von Schweikert Audio at Capital Audiofest 2017 (CAF) to wow show goers with a system tipping the scales at the million dollar mark.

This year, VAC is arriving at CAF with its all-new Statement 450i iQ Integrated Amplifier. Described by the company as a “cost-no-object instrument that establishes a new benchmark for sound quality,” the 450i iQ carries a weighty price tag of $150,000.

The amp has a uniquely stunning vertical form factor that VAC claims has true design utility, that being “optimal placement of circuit elements and the purest, most direct, routing of signals.”

Building upon the company’s previous Statement separate components, the 450i iQ borrows tech from VAC’s 450S iQ power amp, a Statement Line Stage, and a phono stage with multiple inputs and adjustable loading. The amp’s power supply arrangements feature a dual mono design, with six power transformers for both the left and right power amps, line stage, and phono stage. Additionally, VAC says its patented iQ Continuous Stable Automatic Bias system keeps the KT88 output tubes set at the intended operating point for the ultimate in sound quality (and will even tell you when the amp’s tubes need to be replaced).

If you’ve been saving your pennies, you can purchase the 450i iQ at any one of VAC’s US-based dealers, including The Audio Company in Marietta, GA (which is hosting VAC’s demo room at CAF 2018).
