Oscar® Winning Horror Classic Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary

BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and Starring Gary Oldman,
Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins & Keanu Reeves

Debuts on 4K Ultra HD™ October 3
CULVER CITY, Calif. (July 14, 2017)
BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, the Academy Award® winning* sensual horror classic, celebrates its 25th anniversary by debuting on next-generation 4K Ultra HD for the first time on October 3 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The release also includes the existing Blu-ray™ with hours of thrilling and insightful special features. Fully restored in 4K resolution and presented with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dolby Atmos audio, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA follows the devastatingly seductive Transylvanian prince, Dracula (Gary Oldman) who travels from Eastern Europe to 19th century London in search of human love. After centuries alone, the charismatic Dracula meets Mina (Winona Ryder), a young woman who appears as the reincarnation of his lost love and the two embark on a journey of romantic passion and horror.

BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA on 4K Ultra HD features four times the resolution of high definition, high dynamic range (HDR)--which produces brilliant highlights, vibrant colors and greater contrast on compatible displays--and Dolby Atmos audio, remixed specifically for the home theater environment, delivering captivating sound that places and moves audio anywhere in the room, including overhead.

When the charismatic Dracula meets Mina (Winona Ryder), a young woman who appears as the reincarnation of his lost love, the two embark on a journey of romantic passion and horror. Now fully remastered in 4K, experience this sensual gothic spectacle like never before.

So they're up converting all of these old titles. But can we really see a difference at normal viewing distances? I'm weary of any older film claiming HDR, simply because the film wasn't shot with HDR in mind.

Hmmm....

I wouldn't say upconverted. they were remastered with a full 4K master from film elements (35mm and above have way more information than even 4K can hold), but the HDR you are correct on. pretty much any non new new release is re color timed with HDR.... Clint Eastwood actually manually resupervised the Unforgiven 4K to try and time it just right...

and as for "if we can tell at normal distances". I can def tell on the new ones like 5th Element and Leon: The Professional that's for sure.
