Anybody here interested in boxing? If so, are you going to watch the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor match on August 26?

There is a lot of hype in regards to this fight.

I am not much of a boxing fan or UFC fan but this one is just about in the news several times during the week.

The fight will be televised via Showtime pay-per-view.

I'm not much of a boxing fan - but I am curious to see the outcome on this one.

What's the payout for these guys on this one? Gotta be big!

I like boxing and UFC as well. I just see this as a big money grab and have no interest in this lopsided affair.

Who is going to win? CM?

Maybe if it was MMA but really, I don't think he stands a chance in a boxing match with Mayweather.

Per bleacherreport,

"Conor McGregor opened as a +950 underdog (wager $100 to win $950) for his megafight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. when buzz started to circulate last November that the two could duke it out in a boxing match, but his odds have shifted in a positive direction rapidly since the bout was officially announced in June.

As of Tuesday, McGregor is listed as a +375 underdog, with Money a -550 favorite (wager $550 to win $100).

Additionally, bettors can get McGregor at +450 if they think he will win by knockout or +1000 if they think he can outlast Mayweather via decision."

I love MMA and once upon a time enjoyed boxing. Fellas.....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS FIGHT! This is nothing but marketing hype and legal theft. Conor has no chance of beating Floyd in a boxing match just like Floyd would have no chance of beating Conor in a real anything goes fight. The only thing that would make this fight worth the money is if Conor got frustrated and just took Floyd down and pummeled him. I'd think Floyd's camp has contractual wording preventing this from happening and in the event it did Conor wouldn't get paid.

I don't understand the draw here.. One is a boxer and one is an MMA fighter. Why the two would fight each other? Both use different techniques.. Doesn't make any sense.

Also, I agree Floyd will win since it is a boxing match.. :)

The draw is all about hype and money. There was only one real way to set this up fairly and that would involve two separate fights. The first would be boxing and with boxing rules. The second fight MMA and with its rules. I MIGHT have paid for that package.

I am sure they will make their money since the hype is way out there.. Should be interesting to see the result.

Yep... the PURIST form of marketing. And it will bring the money big time. These guys will make a mint off this hyped junk.

I don't think you could even pay me to waste my time watching it. It's just plain silly.

Now... if the loud and foul mouth boy happens to get lucky and win... I'll be super shocked, but then you can look out for the rematch of all rematches. That would be about the ONLY way he would stand a chance at Floyd dissing the fight and giving it to him.

Oh you know no matter what, there will be a rematch and most likely MMA style.. There is money to be made! But time will tell. :)

I don't think so. Floyd wouldn't dare agree to an MMA match against Conor regardless of purse. He'd be spending some time in the hospital if he did.

Yeah, I can believe that. MMA is brutal compared to boxing..

Pretty boy Floyd ain't gonna let his face get messed up in a street brawl. That just ain't nowhere near like boxing with gloves... that MMA is real man stuff!

It is all hype. I wrestled for many years and had judo in the Army infantry (hand to hand). I would never go toe to toe with a boxer in a boxing only match, it's foolish if you are not one.

We can all agree it is a money fight that is for sure.. It will be interesting to see how it goes thou, especially, how long it goes and if anybody gets a knock out. :)

Just to update for those thinking of going to see the fight.

Per Yahoo,

"A check online Saturday revealed hundreds — even thousands — of seats still available from Ticketmaster at the T-Mobile arena for the Aug. 26 fight."

Hurry before they run out!

Hurry!!!

:)

That's funny... I hope it don't sell out, but they'll give the tickets away just to fill the house.

I suspect they will give away the tickets otherwise it will not look good on TV when they show the audience.

Just to update...

per hd-reports,
"Dish Network is currently offering several new promotions for subscribers who refer a friend to sign up for their satellite TV service, the most high profile being free access to watch the Mayweather vs. McGregor pay-per-view fight.

The $89.95 event (plus $10 for high-definition) takes place on August 25 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A second option for subscribers who refer a friend is the Canelo vs. Golovkin fight on Saturday, September 16. "

As others have said, this fight is a joke. I have zero desire to pay for it. Good on McGregor for getting the fight however. Too bad it's against a great boxer and otherwise terrible human being :/

The match is tonight.. I am assuming nobody here is going to catch it?? lol.

Nope, doesn't interest me one bit. Unless of course Conor loses his temper and kicks Mayweather in the head. Now if that happens I'll regret not watching it.

So, I'll be watching after all. My sister and her family ordered the fight and will be Facetiming it live for me. Gotta love technology!
