Hello, I am new to the forum and to REW. This is my first bass measurement. What do would you say is my main problem and what should I do to fix it? I am running and old Lexicon DC-2 with Sherbourn 5/1500 Amp and the speakers are Definitive Technology BP 2002TL running as full range. Any advice or suggestion will be appreciated.

If the speakers are setup well for imaging and sound stage, there won't be much you can do about the low-end response outside of getting something to EQ them... miniDSP, etc.

Thanks for responding. That is what I meant using eq. Could I use EqualizerAPO64-1.2.1 to fix the problem or my only option is minidsp 4x4?

I'm assuming EqualizerAPO64-1.2.1 is some sort of software EQ? Never heard of and not familiar with it. If it is software, then you have to have a way to load it into your system, such as Convolver in Roon, or JRiver, etc. That's only good for when you are using Roon or JRiver, so I'm not sure how you would load it for movies/surround.

There are several options with the miniDSP, including onboard PEQ filters for each channel.

What Sonnie said. Sofware-based EQ can only be used with the source it is operating from. It won’t work for things like Roku, a blu-ray player, etc.

Equalizer APO works with the default sound device (and optionally with non-default devices using DirectSound) and loads itself into the system at boot time. So if your player software is configured to use the default Windows sound device or the named device operating in DirectSound mode, Equalizer APO's EQ will be in effect. Likewise, all software using the default device, even implicitly, (like a web browser playing YouTube videos) will be subject to the Equalizer APO EQ.

Another example: if you're using REW, you can use Equalizer APO in conjunction with FlexASIO, with the latter configured to use the default sound device. In that way, the effects of Equalizer APO will be seen in the REW measurements and all available device channels will be accessible within REW, not just Left and Right as when using Java drivers.

Thank you all for the replies. Yes Equalizer APO is a software equalizer, I am aware I will not be able to to process surround sound thru it. My intent is to use it to equalize and tame the bass responses on two audio format. I am using a windows pc to play and reproduce my music through an SPDIF connection to the Lexicon DC-2. So taking into consideration these facts, what would be the best way to do this?

What are your settings in the DC-2? Before inserting anything else, I would look there closely, since there are a lot of things than can affect this. (I run a couple as well . . . checks of setup via SMAART show no inherent response oddities.) Program running? Speaker config? Crossover point? Bass adjustments in the program, etc?
