(April 9, 2020) The SARS CoV-2 pandemic has wreaked havoc on supply chains around the globe, squeezing available stock and delaying new product launches across nearly every industry. This issue, however, doesn’t appear to be negatively impacting Atlantic Technology, which boldly proclaimed itself as “fully operational” and on schedule to roll out 30 new products throughout the coming year.

Skeptical?

Well, as the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding and it appears Atlantic Technology’s pudding is in fact rather delicious. Staying true to its word, the company has officially launched an all-new quad driver headphones called the FS-HR280 ($299 MSRP).

According to Atlantic Technology, the FS-HR280 is positioned to compete with premium models sold by industry rivals, designed to offer a dynamic combination of comfort, performance, and price. The centerpiece of the headphones is a balanced quad driver system comprised of two 40mm thin-film dynamic bass drivers endowed with rare earth Neodymium magnets and two patented ceramic tweeters (20Hz-40kHz, 105 dB, 32 ohm). Due to the headphones’ closed-back design and pivoting plush ear cups, the drivers’ even-tempered sound remains largely listener-centric, isolated from outside noise. And while active noise cancellation isn’t used, Atlantic argues the functionality of a passive closed-back design eliminates opportunities for interference via batteries and active circuits, while passing along cost savings to the customer.

Aesthetically speaking, the FS-HR280 sports a unique color palette of blue and black with rose-gold trim. Plush surfaces are covered in soft leather and contrast stitching accentuates the headband’s bold stature. All-in-all, it’s an attractive package that delicately strays away from classic visual elements many manufacturers attempt to replicate, injecting life and newness into the FS-HR280’s presence.

Accessories include a braided 4-foot tangle-free cable complete with an in-line microphone, controls, and 3.5 mm 24K gold plated plugs, a gold plated mini-stereo to stere adapter, and a rugged nylon travel case.

The FS-HR280 is available for purchase now and is currently on sale for $249.99 at shop.atlantictechnology.com.

The one with the gold handles...

That was given to me by a speaker manufacturing friend as I left from my last visit to his home. It's getting a little low!

Boy howdy, I can't wait to give these a listen. Review to come, I'll post some early impressions here in a bit.

A sneak preview!

Coming up soon is an AV NIRVANA review of the FS-HAL1 In-Ear Monitors, for those isolated at home that prefer to "self-isolate" from the pandemonium of fellow isolation household members with IEMs.

:hide:

Both the headphones and IEMs are on sale at this time, a boon for quarantined audiophiles. My ears really like what they hear...
