Anyone have a good technique for renewing a SiriusXM subscription?

My wife listens to it in her car... every year I get stuck on the phone, battling.

Hope someone has a sure shot technique for a deal. I just tried via online chat and was quoted (wait for it....) $222 a year.

Every year I get hit... I pickup the phone, ask for the cancellation department... tell them to cancel, and every year they come back with the same $99 deal... plus the royalty fees... about $120 per vehicle.
 
Ok. Thats about what I did last year. But it seemed to take forever to get them to that kind of offer (based on our bill, it looks like they charged us $117).

So you're saying, just tell them to cancel and I'll get to that point much more quickly?

What I don't like is that they're hanging this final bill over my head. The only online pay option automatically kicks-in a $222 subscription. What a crock!
 
Yep... go straight to cancellation dept... works every year for me.
 
Yeah, go to cancellation. I used to get them to a point where they asked how much I was willing to pay. So I usually got it for $60/year. I'd say "I think it's worth about $5 a month, and I'd be willing to pay the full year today if you'll give me that deal."
 
Well. Did the painful deed. Doesn't help that they XM's call center is halfway around the world. No biggie... but it was really difficult to understand they representative and the rep was basically reading from a script. So the conversation was comical.

I had to tell them to cancel my account five times (with long waits between) until they offered me a deal of $80 for the year.

I love my wife, though. Did it for her! :innocent:


Now I have to do the same thing with Comcast...
 
$80 is less than I paid... that's a great deal. I may have to call them up again.
 
They countered with $80 when I told them I'd pay $60. Initially they refused... but then when I told them to cancel (AGAIN) they came back with $80. I was sick of talking with the guy and said ok.

The thing that stinks is the deal rolls back to regular rates next year... there's no way to get out of it. However, they wanted to put my credit card "on file" and I refused to give them consent. The last thing I want is giving them the ability to start charging me whatever they want.
 
I get an email that mine is about to renew, which is when I always call them to renegotiate.
 
Pretty sure they did that with us this year... although they did charge us $35 for a single month of extra service.
 
I got an email on the 9th and again yesterday offering me $5 a month for a year. I may have to do it cause I get sick of the static from local radio stations.
 
I really never thought about it...been paying $24 a month for years. Huh.... I don't know....I mean I pay for netflix, cable and everything else.... I'd buy the lifetime membership but it doesn't carry over to a new vehicle...
 
$24 a month for SiriusXM??? Whoa! You need to have a chat with a customer service rep. You should get a couple of free years of service out of them!

I did finally renew for a year at $5 a month because the radio in my Longhorn Ram is awful.

Well i do use the online streaming in anyroom in my house, and also through my cellphone....that should count for some of the money i have gave them...Your right though...I should look at when I renew...and get that price dropped.
 
Call and tell them you’re cancelling... they’ll get you straightened out in short order!
