And the new screen has arrived... Seymour Screen Excellence is in the house!

That does look like a lot of work @Todd Anderson... I guess I lucked out with my Elite Screens Aeon CLR3 Fixed 103"... Took two hours to build the first day... Well, three if you count reading the instructions and watching the tube videos first... And an hour to measure and mount on the wall the next day... Yep, measure several times and drill once...

They’re not quite as difficult as things seem. Much better as a two-person job. I’ve helped Chris out at CEDIA a couple times, building screens for his booth and exhibition partners. The screen in the Wisdom Audio booth was astonishing, as was the final presentation they gave.

I totally agree. It would have been easier if I'd had a better idea of how tight to stretch/not stretch the screen material. All-in-all, the actual process isn't daunting... the execution of tension got me ;-)

Funny how some of these projects stick in your head!

Yea, there were a bunch of springs that tensioned the screen to the frame... And I do mean a bunch... 80 or more I would guess... Not difficult, tedious... I dreamed about those springs for a week after assembling that thing... I think one of my fingers went numb for about that same week...

I really have no words for how well the thing turned out... Takes my breath away every time I watch something now...

I’m planning to do a video when mine arrives, which should be awesome - assembling a masking screen by myself and filming at the same time.

Funny you say that… I thought about it too. Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

having recently asembled and put up my EliteScreens AEON CineGrey 100" i know the feeling. I was terrified stretching the material around the sharp metal parts :hail:thankfully it all went swimmingly.

Looking good there. my living room is my cave so i can't quite go all black but i got away with a dark grey on ceiling and front wall. hence the grey screen. Ill post some photos at some point somewhere on the forum.

I upgraded for basically the same reason as you, i had vertical lines in bright scenes, thankfully they are no longer present. Has this screen solved that for you?

hello, so for our project we have to go acoustically transparent with a motorized system that rolls up into the ceiling. we need just under 150” 16x9. what screen manufacturer and model is our absolute best option at any price? we are utilizing madvr and an NZ8. cheers.

Depends on seating distance and lighting control but I’d start with Seymour’s XD material in mind and reach out to them for guidance.

cheers. it will be a vanta-black box space with no windows, and 100% light controlled. roughly 11’ wide, 20’ long with the network closet/projector in it, and 9-10’ high. the seating are moon-pods so they can be moved around freely. so far we are researching SAV and Stewart options. i’m guessing there are no better AT screen options out there.
