I may have made a mistake. Ineeded two new RCA cables to connect DAC to headphone amp. I bought analogue ones. They have arrived. I immediately noticed they did not have red/black connectors. I read the box and it said to make sure the arrow on one end i pointing away from the source.

So I have one in each hole of the source, with arrow pointing away and the other ends into the headphone amp.

The sound comes out of headphones fine.

Is this okay or should I be sending them back and getting a conventional set? I bought them because the output of the DAC is analogue so it made sense to me.

The directional thing is pure hooey, but as long as they work you’re good to go.

BTW, connector colors don’t matter. They can be red/black, red/white, green polka dot/yellow striped, or whatever. Any cable with RCAs on both ends will pass analog audio.

Unless you are running for over 100 feet or disconnecting/reconnecting frequently, your interconnect cables will not make any difference whatsoever. Buy the cheapo ones from Amazon. World's Best, Monoprice, Blue Jeans are all excellent. If yours cost over $10 return them ASAP.
