Hello Everyone!

I am running into trouble when trying to get an acoustic reference timing to play during my measurements. The speaker to be measured plays the measurement sweep; however there is no acoustic timing reference chirp being played and REW waits for it. I selected my BL speaker (which is functioning full range.) At first i thought maybe its something in the setup where the BL isnt playing; however if i select the BL to complete a sweep; it will complete a sweep on its own so i know its working. I have even tried playing the measurement sweep from a file and when i do this i get nothing at all; just REW waiting for the acoustic timing reference. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

edit: I was able to successfully get the chirp using macOS on a different computer.

Here are my settings in the measurement sweep and in preferences

Yes I tried all possible combinations.

I even changed sound devices. One combination gave me the chirps but no sweep, the one I have gives me the sweep but no chirps. Very strange.

I went back to my macOS laptop and was able to get chirps and sweeps.

I even tried ASIO4all instead of Java and I still couldn’t get it.

I’m not entirely sure if it’s an REW issue or windows issue (win11) or some other hardware related issue. All I know is the same equipment works now on macOS REW (latest beta).

The HTP-1 has a known problem taking way to long to figure out if the incoming HDMI signal is pcm or a bitstream. It’s highlighted in Amir’s review of the product on ASR.

This may not be the problem here, since things work for you with macOS, but you definitely want to have the “options” on the REW measurement screen set to “play dither before sweep” as you do already in the screenshot above and then on the HTP-1 “Inputs” screen, with “ show advanced input settings” on, change the “PCM detect sensitivity” option to “Indicated” for the input that’s being used for REW.
