(August 28, 2021) The King of 4K TV, King of 8K TV, and King of UST await their crowns, as Value Electronics’ annual TV Shootout is set to take place on September 12-13, 2021, at The Company Building in New York City. For the first time in the event’s history, a panel of Hollywood video colorists, film finishers, TV reviews, and video scientists will judge both 4K and 8K TVs, in addition to Ultra Short Throw (UST) projection systems.

“This is a must-see for all who are interested in the best video display,” explains Robert Zohn, president of Value Electronics. “We are excited to add the new categories of 8K TVs and UST projectors this year, so the public can see how each display compares in these competitive classes.”

This year, Value Electronics is partnering with Dealerscope to boost exposure and attract more professional post-production video experts. However, unlike years past, COVID is restricting attendance to a small selection of media and experts; in-person attendees have been asked not to attend.

Zohn says Stacey Spears will play the role of MC for the TV Shootout portion of the event, while Projector Central’s Rob Sabin will run the UST Shootout program. Evaluation content comprised of test patterns and real video will be used to assess elements such as contrast, color fidelity, color saturation, and motion resolution; state-of-the-art equipment and projection screens are being sourced from AVProStore, Metra Home Theater, and Draper. Shootout models include four 4K TVs, three 8K TVs, and four UST projects, which Zohn says represent flagship products from premium manufacturers available in the U.S. at this time.

4K TVs in the 2021 TV Shootout include:
  • LG’s G1 Gallery Series OLED TV
  • Samsung’s QN90A Quantum Dot LCD/MiniLED TV
  • Sony’s XR-A90J Master Series OLED TV
  • Hisense’s 75U9DG Dual Cell LCD/LED TV

8K TVs in the 2021 TV Shootout include:
  • LG’s ZX Signature Series 8K OLED TV
  • Samsung’s QN900A Quantum Dot 8K LCD/MiniLED TV
  • Sony’s XR-Z9J Master Series 8K LCD/LED TV

UST Projectors in the 2021 UST Shootout include:
  • LG’s HU85LA UST Laser Projector
  • Samsung’s SP-LSP9TFAXZA UST Laser Projector
