12v triggers?

Ok. So I have a Pioneer Elite SCLX-701, it has two 12v triggers on the back (A & B).

I’ve connected a 3.5mm mono cable going out to my mono block amps to trigger them on but it’s not working.

I went inside the pioneer setup menu to verify my setup is correct and I have tried it both on 12v trigger A set as HDMI to ON and OFF, along with turning all of the other inputs as MAIN.

I still cannot get it to work.

Is is possibly something small I’m overlooking...it’s driving me crazy.

The manual suggests:

"12V trigger output jack
You can enable power link operation when you connect the unit and an external device such as power amplifier equipped with 12V trigger input jack. When the desired input is selected on the unit or when an HDMI OUT jack that outputs video is switched, external unit power link operation will be activated with a control signal of maximum 12 V/100 mA from the 12V TRIGGER OUT A jack or maximum 12 V/25 mA when using the 12V TRIGGER OUT B jack. You can select the zone to output the control signal by setting each of the inputs. For connection, use a monaural mini plug cable."

Notice that jack A and B are rated at different mA ratings...
I would verify you are getting the expected 12V/100 mA and 12V/25 mA and the end of each mini plug cable with a decent Digital VOM... You might also verify what the monoblocks expects to see on their end...

The probes are to large to fit inside the 12v trigger port.

I’m sure I can test it with the opposite end of the cable where it’s plugged in.

How can I test it with the probes on a mono cable?

Test that the mono cable is good... Continuity from Tip to Tip on each end = true... Continuity from Base to Base on each end = true... Continuity from Tip to Base = false... Continuity from the other Tip to the other Base = false... Continuity is approximately zero ohms resistance...

Next test for 12V/100 mA from the 12V TRIGGER OUT A when plugged into your Pioneer Elite SCLX-701... Using electrical leads with alligator clips or wires with alligator clips on each end to "jump" from probes to 12V mono plug... Tip is one conductor and Base is the other... VOM should be set to DC range greater than 12V... then turn on the Pioneer Elite SCLX-701 and look for 12V... You will have to set your VOM to the Amp or mA range to see the 100mA...

Note from manual: "You can select the zone to output the control signal by setting each of the inputs."
