Can someone please help me

Apologies if this has been posted before ,I've a 9.2 atomos set up running a denton avr 4500 amp the mic that came with the amp which is easy to use and set up was ok but I think I can get more out of my system.I bought a umik 1 mic but so lost how to calibrate my set up any help would be amazing

REW is not designed for multi-channel system calibration. It is used to take frequency response measurements of speakers and gain useful information regarding your room's acoustics.

A common - and popular - home theater use for REW is for equalizing subwoofers. It may give better results compared to the 4500’s built calibration, but it requires an outboard parametric equalizer for best results.

It might be helpful if you could describe what you believe is lacking in the 4500's auto calibration.

You might have a look at this video by serko70 otherwise know as OCA... He has done a lot of work with these kinds of AVRs room correction systems like Audyssey MultEQ XT32 which I think your AVR has...
P.S. If you don't already have a pro mic stand you may want to get one for that UMIK-1...

ages ago I calibrated my Dennon with the Dennon calibration mic and got chatting to someone can't remember where I sent the calibration results and he ran it through rew and the results were loads better he recommended a umik 1 but I was under the impression that it plugged into my Dennon ,to my horror its a minefield hahah if I got a usb c to mini jack (if that exists) would I benefit better results from the umik 1

If you were able to send your Audyssey file to someone I suspect the preferred results came from changing the target curve and not mic differences.

So long as the mic isn’t broken, any differences should be minimal with a UMIk. Both have calibration files. Also, I believe the cal files for the mic that came the Denon are on the Denon so even if you could plug a UMIk into the Denon, it would use the cal file for the Audyssey mic. That would not be good.

If you’re looking to do something more, you should really take a look at OCA’s YouTube channel that @ddude003 posted above. He’s done some impressive work to automate his Audyssey calibration processes using a UMIk and REW’s API to create the Audyssey file.
