From the Desert to CEDIA: Deus Audio Machines Says It Has Redefined Bass Precision

(October 14, 2025) At CEDIA Expo 2025, Deus Audio Machines made its explosive debut as a new name emerging from the shadows of industry OEM design and engineering. Co-founded by John Hart, a veteran with more than two decades in commercial and consumer acoustics, the company unveiled an infrasonic subwoofer unlike anything the show floor had seen. Built entirely in-house in Salt Lake City, the design features precision-machined components, proprietary motor technology, and distortion levels so low that they've made the claim that it's the lowest distortion driver technology ever created.

In this exclusive interview, Hart shares the company’s origins, technical approach, and the data-driven philosophy behind their engineering. From 20 kW power handling and free air testing to an Expo collaboration with PMC and StormAudio, Deus Audio Machines is making its mark on how extreme bass performance is engineered and verified.

That's incredible... definitely need a dedicated power panel.

We need to get one into your room!

I'd have to build a bigger room. :gulp:

You like building stuff, I hear… just say’n!

lol... Yes... I do, but I'm old and worn out now. The best I can do is make a dent in a chair.

I believe the price is roughly $150K… as to its comparison to the Ascendo 64”… I believe the actual surface area of the driver cone is slightly larger as Ascendo measures tip to tip of the driver and its frame.

I’d assume output is similar, the Deus is claiming even lower measurable distortion.

Interesting to see how well they survive long term . Their website shows an 18" sub with interesting specs. Their parent company, Swarm, does work for Triad, Klipsch and ..... Walmart among many other names I do not recognize.

We shall see. If I were Ascendo, I would not be looking in my rear view mirror any time soon.

Yup. So, they're an OEM manufacturer for many CI brands and consumer product manufacturers. Some are listed on the website... others prefer to remain anonymous. And that's not unusual -- lots of companies source technologies to build their products...

Deus is an offshoot. Basically, in their R&D for developing solutions for their customers, they've created technologies that exceed in performance, but for whatever reason (likely cost), also exceed in need for a particular product. Deus is an way they plan to bring some of that tech to market.

Those 18" subs - if memory serves - are sold as duals... $60K.

Something is amiss.

Given their x-max of 29mm (using x-max vs 82%BL to more easily compare to other subs) their total displacement for two subs is about 6.7 liters of air.

For about the same about of money ($60,000???), I can buy 4 Ascendo 18s + a 32" which displace about 27 liters of air.

Or for about $25,000 I can buy two Harbottle 18s which will displace ~7.4 liters of air.

As I said, something is VERY amiss.

I see what you're saying... the difference is likely the fact that these Deus products are completely hand built in Utah by Deus. Everything, the machining, milling... the only thing they've opted to outsource is winding.

So, yeah, this is not a product that's meant to be mass produced (yet, at least). When you buy in, you're buying into their tech, but also the fact that it's hand made by the creators.

The same is true of the Harbottle subs - and the Harbottle 18 has better specs [built in Canada]. They make the drivers and amps in house and the cabinets as well.

An informed consumer is probably not the target audience for this company.

That said, I do wish them well. More competition means the consumer wins !!
