Hello, I am just starting to teach myself how to setup and use REW to measure my room acoustics. I have been reading a lot and building up the necessary hardware, but either missing something about the physical connections, or just not found it yet. I will be using my laptop with a miniDP output and an adapter to HDMI so I can use that to send test signals to the AVR. However, everything I read just says to connect the HDMI cable to the AVR without specifying which HDMI input is most appropriate. I have a Denon S760h, does it matter which input I use? The rear of the AVR is accessible, but the HDMI ports on the TV are easier to get to. With the CES functionality enabled on all connected devices, can I use one of the TV HDMI inputs (I am assuming the TV would have to be on for this to work as a pass-through)?

Thanks for the help.

You should connect your laptop to the AVR via HDMI, and not using the TV at all (it is not needed for REW and it can also interfere with signals sent from REW to the AVR). Better off leaving the TV off while using REW.

I don't have a Denon, but I've read some users have problems when using the HDMI port on the front of the Denon and the problem is resolved when they connect to a rear port instead. Don't know if yours has a front port, but I thought I'd mention it.

Ya, I didn't really think going through the TV would be appropriate, but thought I would ask.

I don't have a front HDMI on my AVR, so that won't be an issue. Thanks for the heads up anyway.
