(May 14, 2025) Focal has expanded the aesthetic appeal of its high-performance wireless loudspeaker, the Diva Utopia, with the introduction of three new lacquered finishes: Black High Gloss, Dune High Gloss, and Off White High Gloss. The new colorways add a polished visual punch to the company's most advanced wireless speaker, originally launched in October 2024 with a textured Grey Felt finish.

While the original model was no slouch in the looks department, these new finishes bring a level of refinement that matches the speaker's sonic sophistication. Black High Gloss delivers classic elegance with deep reflectivity, Dune High Gloss offers a shimmer that dances between silver and gold depending on the light, and Off White High Gloss lands somewhere between minimalist and warm, making it an easy match for contemporary spaces. Each option is layered with high-gloss varnish for extra depth and contour definition.

For those already enjoying the Diva Utopia in its original trim, Focal has made it possible to upgrade—lacquered side panels are available for existing owners, with installation handled exclusively by Focal Powered by Naim stores. It’s a thoughtful move that lets early adopters refresh their systems without starting from scratch.

But it’s not all about looks. The Diva Utopia is a technical powerhouse beneath the finish. This 3-way, fully active and connected loudspeaker pairs French loudspeaker engineering with British electronics prowess, combining Focal’s materials science with Naim Audio’s Class AB amplification. Each speaker contains three discrete amplifiers (250W for bass, 75W each for midrange and treble), totaling 400W per cabinet, with electronics developed specifically for this platform.

The driver array includes a pure beryllium inverted dome tweeter shaped in Focal’s ‘M’ profile for extended, detailed treble, a 6.5-inch ‘W’ cone midrange driver for natural mids, and four 6.5-inch ‘W’ cone woofers in a push-push layout to suppress cabinet resonance while delivering deep, defined bass. Frequency response extends from 27Hz to 40kHz (+/-3dB), with the system capable of delivering 116dB SPL per pair—enough output for large rooms up to 860 square feet.

Wireless connectivity is handled via Ultra Wide Band (UWB) tech between speakers—96kHz/24-bit out of the box, and up to 192kHz/24-bit with the included Hi-Res Link cable. Streaming options include AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and more, while physical inputs cover HDMI eARC, optical, RCA, USB, and Ethernet.

Control comes via the Focal & Naim app, a dedicated Zigbee remote, or voice assistants. The speaker also includes Focal’s ADAPT technology—a room acoustic correction system that factors in the user’s own hearing to tailor playback in the listening space.

The new lacquered finishes are priced at $9,500 USD ($11,999 CAD) and will be available beginning in June at select Focal Powered by Naim stores.
