Hi,

I am being thick so figured i would ask those in the know to help if possible please.

I am wanting to measure four subwoofers and use the acoustic timing reference to allow for alignment. As I understand it the reference needs a speaker with a tweeter. Of course I have one in each of my mains but, when measuring the subs the mains and Bass management are turned off.

How do you use the acoustic timing reference when measuring subs is my question please? Thanks for looking and any insight

You can make the center channel the reference. Or left front. Or the right front. To measure only the sub without the front channel, physically disconnect the front channel from the signal, leaving the sub.

Cheers SM52.

This is where I am being thick. When i take a measurement using the ATR I hear a squark from the tweeter before the measurement starts when I have my mains and subs both switched on. If I disconnect the mains then there is no tweeter so no squark. Perhaps this is not an issue?

I'm working on a 2.4 system ie L/R mains + 4 subs

When you want to measure the left front sub, physically disconnect the left main, but leave the left sub connected. The reference will be the right main one. With the reference right main this way you can measure the left front sub and the two rear ones. Then switch roles. This will measure the right front and two rear ones. You can also physically disable the front subs to measure the time between the front mains. After measurements, you will need to work with the overlay window to understand how all six speakers are coordinated with each other. It's complicated. To simplify, you need a separate, seventh speaker with a tweeter, which you will make the reference.

Boom, told you I was being thick SM! Thanks so much for your help. I will hopefully have a chance to make some measurements at the weekend.
