Not sure if this is related - but the RC2 also does not recognize UMIK-1 on clean install.
It's an early version microphone - (7 plus years) - running fedora 32 - do you need any other mods installed (alsa/pulse/etc...)
thanks - do I need soundcard and impedance rig calibration files prior to measuring, when try and calibrate impedance rig - I get flat 100 ohm - when application inputs have been cleared and physical leads shorted...
Any help?
Thanks John,
To the audio input - I have tested that something with a 4 prong audio jack that the input and output (headphone and mic) are recognized by the system. (images attached above.)
Can you recommend a fairly inexpensive USB sound card - and would that make the rest of this easier...
Added Question - now that I've been trying this - I have not done SPL setup - Is that okay?
When I skip that step - proceed anyways - measuring the impedance rig seems way off - (525% from reference levels)
I think in the new versions of the options vs the documentation have become outdated...
Morning - couple of quick questions:
Internal sound card on Surface pro 4 has two options - Which is preferred?
1. 4 prong audio out jack (Headphone and Mic combined)
2. USB to Audio converter (Headphone and Mic combined like a gaming headset)
Does Sound card above need to be calibrated? If...
I use the Mini Display Port out for all HDMI connections - be careful - the cable looks like attached file - works great - you just have to remember to ensure the proper outputs are being used (switch from built in to HDMI.)
As to the surface pro - It's great - a few hiccups which maybe John...
Hey thanks Kal,
So help me understand how that would work and how else the equipment is affected.
Any manufacturers here which would okay the use of shorting plugs and guaranteeing serviceability warranty and protection against any issues may arise? no sure how that works out with safety...
If others wish to chime in - I welcome it. I believe we've lost the ability as consumers to have a voice when it comes to choice and how that choice shapes product design and functionality and ultimately price.
So whether it is wifi or some other feature - built in functionality bothers me -...
exactly my point - wifi should be optional - but as that costs more, we chances are it's not. In addition - if it is networked and its not secure - I don't want the option for wifi to be turned back on. Think firmware update resets all defaults.
Again - if it just isn't in there, and its...
Hey Tony,
Right.
So I'll answer this in a few parts.
1. Regarding identifying products without WIFI. This is brutal. Most search criteria will show all products by default and filter only on inclusion, not exclusion. A simple example would be a feature of Networking - I want my devices...
So I am having difficulty searching for products which do not include wifi as their network connectivity. We really have no wifi in the house at all and will not be adding any device which includes it.
That said - how do I go about locating products which may have a blend of analog and modern...
okay - so I am hearing I need to step back a bit and not get in the weeds too much on the measurements - except for where they may be positioned (tweeter and woofer) in relation to each other. My assumption on this is due to the destructive interference patterns which may be directly affected...
I was hoping to better understand the ways a cabinet affects impedance measurements and how to quickly (reliably) measure drivers.
so a couple of questions:
1. can I measure a (8 ohm) mid-bass driver and (4 ohm) tweeter (2-way or 2 and a half way) at the same time (wired together) to gain a...
ha - love hearing a moderator chime in on this - thanks...
I have finally come to a point where I have realized everything I enjoy deals with audio in some way - yet it's not the focus of anything as a career.
I think i finally got to the point of saying I need to start doing what makes...
