Main Floor Media / Gaming Set-up

Media / Gaming / 2-Channel set-up

Description

I posted my 7.4.4 Home Theater system that I'd built out in the basement and have evolved/upgraded over the last two years. Wanted to share with the group my smaller media / gaming / 2-channel set-up that I use on the main floor of my home. Like the home theater, I've gone through several iterations of speakers and gear as I learn more about the hobby, and learn more about my likes, dislikes, what sounds good in an opened up (remodeled) ranch style home. Think I've got it tweaked in just about right for what I like; however, when I saw the recent sale price on the GoldenEar Triton One.R speakers I couldn't pass them up, upgrading my theater room, and moving the Legends upstairs (with a little help ... heeeeeavy speakers). This is a small nook open to the living room and part of the kitchen ... handles the Legends speakers well. The surrounds are a pair of L100 bookshelves and the center is the L400 within the Legend series ... makes for a great 5.0 system. The L800s punch low enough I don't feel that a separate sub is needed in this setup.
In the equipment rack below, you'll see both the media/gaming gear and the separate 2-channel gear. I'll leave it here with the gear listing ... love this hobby and enjoy AVNirvana and sites like it as I continue to learn more ... Enjoy!

Ahhhh, that PrimaLuna........
Agreed ... that PrimaLuna, as soon as I saw it I had to have it! Watched Kevin Deal's video on it at his Upscale Audio website. Looking at the internals, how it's wired, parts quality, circuit layout, auto biasing, etc. ... I knew immediately it was an heirloom product, one of those pieces you'd just keep and enjoy forever. Ordered it as soon as I finished the video!

Looks like a nice system you've put together... And its nice to see another PrimaLuna fan... Have you done any small signal tube rolling? The inner most 12AU7s are the first gain stage... You can also roll the EL34 power tubes... "Uncle" Kevin can give you some ideas as to what tubes to roll for what kind of sound you may be looking for... Bet that Denafrips DAC sounds pretty sweet with that PrimaLuna...

Thanks, yes, I'm a huge PrimaLuna fan after watching Kevin's video on them and seeing how they are built, can't say enough about the quality of the build, etc., ... but you know that. I haven't rolled any tubes yet, but have looked into buying some replacements to have on hand. Read up on the cryogenically treated tubes that Upscale Audio carries, think those will be the replacements I buy. Honestly, I hadn't thought of rolling tubes, the stock tubes sound really good, but I know I'll try it, probably this fall. The Denafrips DAC does sound really good, although I've got this nagging thought that I want to try the PrimaLuna Evo100 Tube DAC ... that may happen later this year too! Just ordered the Ohm Walsh 2000s thought, so I'm going to cool ordering anything else for a few months. Love this hobby, always reading and looking at components.
