I am trying to use a pink noise generator and the RTA feature of REW to make some EQs. I am confused about the difference between the spectrum mode and the RTA mode in the real time analyzer.
In the REW graph attached the green line is taken with the mode set to 'RTA 1/24 octave'. The blue...
After reading Harman Lab's report that the more channels you have the less people notice the difference in the quality of speakers... I really want to try plastering my walls with dozens and dozens of Cambridge Audio minx min speakers (BMR drivers).
I have two of the Hsu ULS-15 first generations and am very curious how the lighter, cheaper, non-XBL^2 design compares. I'm skeptical after reading reviews saying that it is better in every way.... but, I still only have one sub in my HT room and it would be fun to have more!
during totality the absolute pitch black of the moon and the sharpness of the corona, followed by the blinding tip of the "diamond ring" as it ended. Such pure black next to sunlight! So amazing.
My TV can't do that at all.
/gushing over.
I'm curious -- sub-woofer placement is one of the most written about topics on audio sites, but when systems like this are shown the subwoofers seem to be in the most aesthetically satisfying place. Am I correct that this placement isn't acoustically ideal, or in this case does it barely make a...
Thanks. Given that most systems with n>3 have no closed solutions (yet we got to the moon!) I'm surprised there arnt more interpolation programs. With that said, would it be possible to build a room in UE4 or Unity with Steam Audio and get results? The audio occlusion and reflection is really...
I've been educating myself on this lately and liked this example of EQ effect on phase. Extrapolating from this its clear that the more speakers there are the harder this gets!
Check out page 47 of this paper (page 47 of the pdf, page 35 of the document). Super cool.

This looks like one of the most cited studies on HRTFs. They used these microphones. The website that includes their methodology can be found here. The downloads are pretty cool on that site! Lisen to sounds of different HRTFs.
I remember in high school I had a Sennheiser DSP pro and you got to...
Interestingly, it relies heavily upon listening data. You must enter in the ideal location for your speakers for it to generate EQ for where your speakers actually are. It seems like you have to make up an ideal position for in-ceiling speakers.
I found this video on youtube. It shows the...
I am curious about two things with the room simulator...
1) Is it possible to do non-rectangular rooms? if not, is there a program that does, or a link to the math used?
2) When selecting how much sound each wall absorbs, what are some good tips? What value would plaster be? Brick? Carpet...
Any analysis of actual power levels for 11 channels driven? (rather than the 2 channels in the spec). The shot inside doesn't reveal a huge power supply, but, it is digital, so maybe not as necessary.
edit:
Looking at the manual, it looks like the maximum draw from the power supply is 320watts...
