An interesting read on the susceptability of human hearing

The human ear is so fallible, easy to fool, influenceable, and we usually end up fooling OURSELVES. Right Sonnie?

    Target Curve Correction for HPs

My advice for EQing headphones is DON'T. Interaction with the ear causes a lot of the HF variations and when EQed the result just ends up sounding weird and extremely sensitive to placement variations on the head.

    Do these measurements look right?

Not sure if this will help of not: The impulse responses need to be spread out more with a finer time scale to be useful. Even then, they might not show anything particularly vital at this stage of your work, just a fyi. 5mm might be too close for meaningful measurements. Extreme near field...

    What are these McIntosh amps?

I guess I am going to have to come down there and hear for myself.

    What are these McIntosh amps?

Hmmmm. I noticed with the Classic 9's that running low frequencies through them meant sacrificing the sharpest imaging, probably not a problem with the Renaissance 15's because you have a lot more mass and more stable anchoring with your carpeting, and a better stabilized total speaker design...

    What are these McIntosh amps?

Do you like Dirac Live ART? I guess I have mixed feelings about the concept.

What are you listening to right now?

Thought of this album last night and had to wait till morning so I could crank it up like it deserves to be heard. The Envy Corps, an Iowa band, self released It Culls You in 2011. I saw them perform it at Omaha's Waiting Room shortly afterward and was blown away by how tight they were, and...

What TV series are you watching now?

Hulu's The Bear. My wife and I watched it together and both really enjoyed it, although we are almost afraid to eat out now. I was afraid to watch the last episode of season 2, I wanted the restaurant opening to succeed so badly, and was afraid it would not (I won't spoil it by saying if it did...

    Focusrite Audio Interface with REW

Ridhamshah1025: Ii wish I could help you out with further detail, but I am only aware of the information I mentioned above. I have neither the Focusrite hardware/drivers, nor the Sonible software. Sorry I can't help more.

Acoustical treatment behind acoustically transparent screen

I did not mention that the controlled-dispersion character of front main pair (electrostatics or a good HF horn like the JTR or Seaton designs - I use MartinLogan electrostats) effectively helps "increase" the area of absorption, i.e. little to no absorption needed at the usual first reflection...

    The Quiet Bang

I oscillate between "Yikes" and "Cool Beans." Maybe a little of both?

Is the end of physical media upon us?

    Physical media, what is that?

Acoustical treatment behind acoustically transparent screen

My vote: for best soundstage and imaging (SS&I), which is important for cinema and extremely important for music, go all absorption behind the screen.
