    Db level comparison

Still confused about proper level to set my audio system, (and microphone, I guess), when making measurements. I have attempted checking levels, and spl calibration, but it seems that it tells me not to worry about it since I am using HDMI and USB mic. I do have the calibration file for the mic...

    Sound level for measurements

So when using a USB mic and an HDMI output, do I never make volume adjustments in REW? Only on the AV processor volume? And how do I know that -12 DB on the processor volume is okay? Or that -18 or -20 is okay? I assume that I should pick a volume level and stick with it forever. How do I know...

    Sound level for measurements

I have not been able to follow any of the instructions I have seen calibrating with the DB meter. At one point it said calibration not necessary using HDMI output. So I am not confident in my test levels. When I click check levels, I don't hear anything. Right now I have done the measurements...

    Novice Help

    Novice Help

My Windows 11 Sound Settings looks different than what's shown in the Austin Jerry Guide. I have REW working with 7.1 (8) channels, using Java. But when doing a measurement on a speaker, I hear a popping noise toward the beginning of the sweep that I don't remember hearing before. And when I do...

    REW test variations

I seem to have found a combination the does allow me to produce sound through 8 output channels. I have listed them below. Does his seem like a proper configuration? Preferences: Driver - ASIO Device - FlexASIO Samp Rt - 48 kHz FlexASIO Control Panel: Driver Type - MME Input - Microphone...

    REW test variations

I am unsure which combinations of driver selection, output device etc will result in the output list containing more channels than Left Right and L+R. Any combination of settings that do result in having more than those 3 choices, all of the extra choices do not produce sound such as center channel.

Okay, stuck again. When I click on the FlexASIO-1.9.exe file and open it, I do not see that it is doing anything.

    REW test variations

Look forward to doing this tonight. I cannot thank you enough getting us back on track. That Windows Enhanced microphone thing had to be solved and I'm not sure we would have ever found it.

Not sure exactly what to do. Do I download FlexASIO? Will it then show up in the driver window?

    REW test variations

No luck with Center Channel. We can see all 7.1 choices when we switch to EXCL SONY, but no sound works. We switch back to SONY without EXCL and L and R works, but no Center choice. The driver is Java, although we downloaded ASIO4ALL and see ASIO as a choice there. But that doesn't seem to work...
