What is Killing the Movie Going Experience?

For me it's a combination of things and one of the items I fear, is going to touch a nerve but it's my answer. 1: Movie Theaters going to assigned seating has caused me to go to less and less movies as it's hard to meet up with friends etc. when you can't just save the seat next to you by...

Out of Phase Error with Yamaha 2070

Nice suggestion on moving it away from the wall. It's relatively easy even with these big speakers. Thanks again.

Out of Phase Error with Yamaha 2070

The speaker does have a wall right beside it. Which is the back wall of my family / theatre room. I think I sort of tested the internal wiring on the speaker part as I pulled an old center channel out of storage (non electrostatic) and wired it in. Got the same error so unless it's out of...

Out of Phase Error with Yamaha 2070

If you followed my other thread you may know I was debating between a Yamaha Aventage and an Outlaw 976. I settled on the Yamaha. In setting it up I got an out of Phase error on one of my speakers and can't seem to resolve it. A bit about my set up. I got a Yamaha 2070. I use the Pre amp outs...

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

I have some ability to play with placement. I plan to do that via your 2x4 idea. The wall mount polls will naturally point down once I permanently fix them to the wall, so that is good. They will need to be up by the ceiling as my front speakers are 6 feet tall and my tears are 4 feet tall...

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

It's funny you should point me to this as I was just looking through it to figure it out. I have 9 speakers to work with. 5.1 from my current system and I am going to re-purpose 4 Polk wall mount speakers from an older system. Looking at the diagram on page 22 it seems I can go with a 5.2.4...

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

Found a deal local to me on a 2070 so going to likely go that route.

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

It looks like I am going to settle on the Yamaha unit which has both front and rear special effect speakers as an option. I have 4 speakers available for this use. I am planning to use 2 up front as front affect speakers. That leaves 2 for the back. My couch is on the back wall so I plan to...

Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A3070 AV Receiver Review

On the web site it mentions a dialog enhancement option. Has anyone tried that option and if so, do you have any feedback?

Any thoughts on the DAC processor in this unit vs the Sabre ones in the 1070 and above?

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

I agree and they have me thinking about Atmos. Along those lines and in ceiling mounted speakers that are wireless or partially wireless recommended in the Atmos space? If I can make them seamless they might pass the WAF. Wires exposed will not.

I did join the demo give away. These are great options thanks.

Advice needed: Is 7.1 that much better than 5.1 in my Set up?

No on Atmos material as Atmos is new to me, unless it's on 4KHD DVD's. Any recommendations on where to get some Atmos source material?

Oh and yes it says a lot when one is willing to put their own cash into something. If I go that route how does one PM on this site?

Purchasing Advice Needed Yamaha Aventage Line or outlaw 976

Thanks guys. Just joined this site today and it’s nothing short of amazing. This not an easy decision for sure. The outlaw has treated me great for years and before that it was a Yamaha dsp-1000e. Yeah I know that was 20 years ago but that dsp at the time was plain amazing. Can’t bring...
