    Remote Desktop

TightVNV. I checked them out before settling on this one. Works well without fail. When you install you set viewer and/or server in each one. I'm not aware that you can mix-n-match versions of VNC. Use TightVNC for both server and viewer.

    Remote Desktop

So problem solved, that's good. The one difference I would point out is that I suspect VNC doesn't require any special actions on the user's part to start it up. It just works, at least with anything I've done in REW and other software. Can't confirm REW use with a microphone, however. For...

    Remote Desktop

Just a suggestion - TightVNC. I use it on a regular basis controlling a laptop running REW, a PC as music server and NAS, measurement PCs and a dedicated speaker DSP system. It doesn't require the Win Pro license the Remote Desktop does. But I'm not making audio measurements so no mic at this...

    Why not linear phase?

I left in that way because it's no effort either way. My point was to say that there is no audible difference between the two . I haven't tested that with my old 3-way that has PR system bass (I may at some point), but from all I've read there has not been any published research of which I'm...

    Why not linear phase?

I've been using the Ultimate Equalizer (UE), part of the Bodzio software SoundEasy (SE) in my main dipole system for more than 10 years. 3-way system, linear (as in zero) phase, LR8 crossovers. It's commercial, yes, but worth the relatively cheap cost for the performance. This isn't guesswork...

Accuracy of harmonics amplitude in RTA

Comment and question for John. This is a very interesting thread. I'm still on the learning curve on hardware distortion measurement with issues in my rig I haven't resolved due to limitations of my test hardware, in this case the Scarlett 2i2 Gen 4. It's self noise is a problem, but improved by...

Virtual balanced input is disabled when using the Scarlett 2i2

One more observation. The Measurement Info in the main screen indicates Windows 10 on my W11 PC.

Virtual balanced input is disabled when using the Scarlett 2i2

Bingo! That did it. The option appears in Preferences and the pull down for diff/Sum works now. Edit: Thanks, I hadn't thought of trying that. Any idea what might create that issue?

Virtual balanced input is disabled when using the Scarlett 2i2

I haven't tried that, I'll do it now.

Virtual balanced input is disabled when using the Scarlett 2i2

Here is a screen shot with as much as I can get into one capture. Note that this is in a new (yesterday) laptop running Windows 11 with the Scarlett ASIO. Previously I was testing on an old Windows 10 PC with the Delta 1010LT. I also was running it with the 1010LT output to ADCiso input with no...

Virtual balanced input is disabled when using the Scarlett 2i2

I may be the only one who has used the virtual balanced input as a means to improve measured noise and distortion in an audio interface or amp, but it worked when using the Delta 1010LT, even with the balanced inputs. I suspect that is due to the card having both balanced and unbalanced inputs...

Is there no influence from the analog input front end circuitry that feeds the ADC chip?

The new SPL & Phase graph option displays the distortion labels high on the graph.
