For a while now it seems like most of the movies and or tv series on platforms such as Disney+, HBO MAX, Vudu and the rest, are streaming with audio so low that I almost have to turn my AVR up to Reference levels in order to enjoy the movie or show. In the past and with many of my older movies...
Great review! Thank you! I'm a proud owner of Pioneer's last all Pioneer (not an Onkyo collaboration) Elite SC-99. This review gives me hope that if Pioneer decides to do another Class D Elite receiver, they will already have all of the above mentioned features fully fleshed out. I'm very happy...
If in the settings you find the Center Spread feature, turn it on when you set your music listening mode to Dolby Surround. This feature allows for your Left and Right mains speakers to create a phantom center like listening in stereo would, but then you also get the surround sound effects from...
Thanks John.
I was curious because sometimes I see people asking what they should use as a point of reference (SPL wise) from which to make corrections when reviewing their own FR graph (as if to say that they don't know what SPL range the FR should have followed).
When I see those...
Thank you all for taking time to reply to this thread. Its always nice to get feedback (no pun intended).
I fear I may have overcomplicated the discussion by adding the graph, only because it took the focus off of the main question (which I guess I didn't state clearly).
I used terms...
Thanks for the reply and suggestions, much appreciated.
The actual measurement results for my setup are much better than the graph that I posted. I mainly shared that graph to add a visual aid to my question.
I understand that the room (its size, items in it, mic position, speaker placement...
Good day all, this is going to seem somewhat basic, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I'm wondering what the "perfect world" Frequency Response SHOULD be based on the volume (SPL) that is used prior to the actual measurement sweep in REW.
For example:
If prior to the measurement sweep I...
Looks like the price jumped up by $1,000, is there that much more tech in these over the previous model to warrant the jump?.:dontknow:
I'm still enjoying my 5040UB, so this one will have to wait, but I like what they are doing with these, the laser is a nice upgrade.
As for the size, I hope...
looking at all of the measurements, 2 things stand out.
1st, looks like with the exception of the sub measurement with audyssey active, the rest of the sweeps were done at a relatively low volume.
2nd, rather than a null at 54Hz, I'm thinking that for the mains, the 35-50Hz range is actually a...
Not sure if you've seen this room mode calculator before, but using your room dimensions (had to guess the height), It shows you all of the spots in the room where you can get Peaks and Dips for the frequencies that most affect your room based on the room dimensions. The top of the arch is were...
I see. With the couch up against a wall like that, it will be difficult to get a similar response to that which you can get at the MLP. Also Understand that if MLP is not centered in the room (at least left to right), then the output from the speakers furthest from the MLP will be driven higher...
The 80dB nearfield vs 64dB at the MLP suggests that either sub 3 is sitting in a null or it is quite far from the MLP. They say that for every doubling of distance from the source of the sound, the SPL drops by about 6dB.
All in all, I recommend just starting from scratch with all settings...
