I don't use a crossover, I just connect the sub to the output of the poweramp together with the mains. Sounds ok to me.

How does it sound?

I added a REL to my 2 floor standing speakers (Duntechs), did some Roon DPS room correction and never looked back. The sub does not only deliver a deep base but has a positive effect on the whole sound image.

I used the REW measurements to compose ROON DPS filters and never looked back. Happy as a clam :)

I don't know why you need a subwoofer pre out. If it's not a must you could consider a REL sub connected to the power amp by the high level connection.
