    New room - new challenges

I haven’t yet performed measurements at different locations, but I did some thorough listening in several areas. Basically there isn’t a spot where the bass is better. That led me to think the LF might be escaping the room, as there might not be rigid boundaries. I'm still discovering if that...

    New room - new challenges

The room should have more consistant RT and covering everything with absorption was never an option. Diffusion is easy, taming the LF is the real challenge in almost every room. ;)

    New room - new challenges

Holy moly, now that is a review for the big boys. I agree with one of the users: it probably takes a sabbatical to read it all the way through. :D That processor is an absolute monster. I wasn’t planning on spending 25k on a processor, but luckily the more affordable brands (Marantz, Denon, etc)...

    New room - new challenges

I completely agree that systems like Dirac Live ART are a huge step forward. Active multisub control can do things today that were simply not possible a decade ago, especially in terms of seat-to-seat consistency. That said, ART reshapes and counteracts the pressure distribution, but it doesn’t...

    New room - new challenges

Good evening @Sonnie Parker Thank you for your input. The doors should be installed within the next couple of weeks. Still debating some details with the carpenter. Regarding the walls and ceiling: they are intentionally left open at the moment. My original plan was to follow a concept I saw...

    New room - new challenges

Ouch, could I kindly ask moderator to move this thread to the "Room Acoustics and Treatments" section. Seems more appropriate. Thank you!

    New room - new challenges

Hi fellow acoustic sufferers! ;-) This year I decided to do my own little misagi: build (and actually finish) a new room and try not to repeat the same acoustic mistakes as last time. ;-) The space is 5 × 7 × 2.5 m. Above a perforated ceiling there is 50 – 60 cm of glasswool insulation, so...

    New room, new challenge

I've seen this page, I even had some of his difussers. Not sure about the traps position suggestions. The most effective absorption occurs where the sound pressure is highest – and this is not always in the corners. While corners do tend to accumulate modal energy (since sound waves from...

    New room, new challenge

Not quite sure but I can move the pic around and see what happens. Seating position is flexible as the room isn't yet finished. Moving it in the simulator doesn't do much. I spent some more time in the simulator and noticed a really interesting phenomenon. The graph "sim11" uses a parameter of...

    New room, new challenge

Hi, fellow audio friends, I recently had to say goodbye to my beloved old room and am now starting fresh in a new space. I’ve done some early measurements while the room is still mostly empty. There’s no acoustic treatment yet. Just exposed (unfinished) walls to allow access to the primary...

How many subwoofers are you using in your main system or home theater?

My room is currently under construction after moving into a new house. For now, the equipment setup remains unchanged: 4 Velodyne DD-15 subwoofers Auto EQ via Audyssey for movies Manual timing adjustments for stereo (with a lot of help from this community, especially @jtalden)

UMIK-X Microphone Array and REW Pro Version

An amateur question. ;) May I ask where MultiChannel Mic Array can be helpful in home rooms? So far I've been measuring one channel at the time ...

Understanding sub phase/group delay for placement

Many months have passed and this is still a superb setup. I did nothing but enjoyed since this awesome learning lessons. I guess I needed some time to adopt because I see now that low frequencies are more detailed when it comes to movies. Thank you again, @jtalden!

Here's the Harman Curve in case you'd want to import it in REW.

Understanding sub phase/group delay for placement

We may not pass but we are sure much closer than before! I'm really glad there are many good people who are willing to help. I focused on multichannel sound lately. Not sure if I need some time to adjust but sometimes I feel like something isn't as it should be at low frequencies. I suppose any...
