miniDSP Launches Tide16, A Fully Loaded 16-Channel Home Theater Processor at $3,500

Once I decided to upgrade the integrated audio on my then-PC, it was rubbish, so I bought a nice Creative Labs card. Upon installing, the computer didn't boot, and eventually I figured out it was now just exceeding the power supply output. I had to upgrade the power supply. Upon installing...

miniDSP Launches Tide16, A Fully Loaded 16-Channel Home Theater Processor at $3,500

Yep, deal breaker for me. I currently use 5 inputs and I would like at least one more for future proofing. Perhaps I'll get that new shiny Valve gaming PC. I know I could get some external splitter, but while my wife wouldn't bat an eyelid over me spending 3.5k on a new audio gizmo, she would...

Cool piece of kit, I would personally be interested if it had more HDMI inputs.

Shanling SCD3.3 Lands in the U.S. with True Reference Level SACD Playback

Are they going to send it to you for review? This seems quite like a singular SACD player in terms of specs.

TEAC Introduces the PD-507T, a New High-End Reference CD Transport

Yes theoretically, but after looking at a lot of measurements, I think jitter is basically negligible in terms of audio output for just about anything I've seen. As for vibration and mechanical noise, really, even inexpensive players are built well enough. I think this is a beautiful toy but...

What got you into home theater… what ignited your urge to want a home theater?

Yes to my understanding it has different lasers and whatever is left working, I don't need since I use much more modern video players. I already fixed it once, it conked out soon after. Now it's resting on a shelf and hasn't been turned on in 10 years. Shame really, the sound quality was great...

What got you into home theater… what ignited your urge to want a home theater?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, the first setup, back in 2006. He took me to listen to speakers (I ended up with a Triangle 5.1 system which I still have and it sounds pretty good) and put me in contact with someone who sold me a Rotel AV receiver and a Denon UDP which sorted me out for a few...

TEAC Introduces the PD-507T, a New High-End Reference CD Transport

Don't all "transports" and CD players when using their digital output give precisely the same bit stream output? I swear I read about this somewhere...

What got you into home theater… what ignited your urge to want a home theater?

I went to my now father-in-law's apartment for the first time, around 2000 (can't even remember). He had a sound proofed room with big Magnat speakers, surround sound speakers, a subwoofer, a Harman-Kardon surround sound receiver and a projector. It was amazing and the microbe fully set in. In...

Onkyo Expands Its Icon Series Lineup with the New C-30 High-Performance CD Player

The other separates in the series are thousands, they could have included SACD capability and upped the price from the measly $349 but what do I know...

Onkyo Expands Its Icon Series Lineup with the New C-30 High-Performance CD Player

I have to say, I love the look - the whole Icon series looks high class. Shame they didn't offer SACD playback with this one.

Onkyo Unveils Its Stunning New Icon Series of AV Components

They look really nice! I wonder if any of the P-80's analog inputs can be configured as HT bypass? I could use one to add Dirac to my system.
