How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Interesting. Worth a try! I am considering it for a number of reasons. This just gave me another one. I don't know. If XTZ says they can improve it, I'm willing to try.

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Quick update with some interesting info: I reached out to both XTZ, Denon, Audyssey and Dirac to ask about these delay and delay setting issues. Firstly, XTZ responded that they actually have a new firmware for my subs' DSP chip that improves the delay, so I will send them my plate amps for a...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

I did not. Should I? If so, should I remove that smoothing after SPL aligning?

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Thank you. Strange that we got different SPL offsets. I tried 5 octaves around 1000 Hz, gave me different results. I hope Denon/Marantz will fix this, should be a priority. Wonder if the same limit applies to Dirac in the 2023/2024 lineup. Sorry, it's the same acoustic reference, but the RAW...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

I'm trying to replicate what you did. Following you tutorial, I ran "Align SPL" and added the SPL offset after first having cross-corr aligned and vector averaged each speaker's measurements. I did this for the speakers separately, and the subwoofers separately. This is all in the .mdat file I...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Got it. An unexpected but important discovery :) Tha actual distance of SBL is about 3,71 m and SLA is 2,60 m. Is there a benefit of measuring the speaker distances with REW, or might it be better to do it by hand with a laser?

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Ok. So if I understand you correctly, are you saying that I should manually convert the actual distance (2,32 meters) to what the AVR thinks the distance is? 2,32 m / 343 m/s = 6,76 ms, so that equals 2,029 m (6,76 ms / 300 m/s)? Is that the only manual SOS adjustment I need to do?

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Yes. Both REW and the Excel were set to 300 m/s. I thought that would convert distances correctly? The distance settings look identical to mine, except for SLA and SBL. Ok, I'll look into what might cause the difference in SPL alignment. Decimate IR is unticked. Learnt that the hard way, as...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

I use two XTZ Sub 10.17 Edge subwoofers. There are three EQ modes on these and no "Off" option (I use the "REF" mode). There's also a parametric EQ, but I have that one set to Off (bypass). Regarding my measurements, I've measured using a UMIK-1 and @serko70 1M lossless Atmos sweeps. The Dali...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

My Denon X4500H uses 300 m/s, like many older Denon/Marantz AVRs. Did the link work?

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

The center speaker is the closest speaker at 2,32 meters. Given that SW2 has to be delayed by 3,6 ms (1080 mm) to SW1, SW1 can't have a distance more than 7,24 meters (2,32 + 6 - 1,080), right?

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Having trouble uploading. Does this link work? --> REW measurements (shared)

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Here's the .mdat file attached. The center speaker (C) is the acoustic timing reference. In this file, I have just aligned SW1 and SW2 with the alignment tool and generated the "Aligned sum" (where SW2 is delayed by 3,6 ms). I have not time aligned the subs to the center speaker, so you can try...

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Thank you. The AVR (Denon X4500H) has two independent subwoofer outputs, so both distance and volume must be set individually for each sub. If I cross-correlation align the "Aligned sum" of SW1 and SW2 to the center speaker, the distance is 12206 mm.

How to manually time align multiple subs to acoustic timing reference speaker?

Hi, I'm following OCA's tutorial on manual Audyssey calibration, and I've stumbled upon an issue regarding how to time align multiple subs to the acoustic timing reference speaker. I have two subwoofers (SW1 & SW2), which I have time aligned to each other using the alignment tool. SW2 needs a...
