I don't know that there would be any published data on the capable resolution of either unit. Dirac used to show available/used filters during processing, but not any longer, that I've noticed. I would suggest that if they have implemented ART, they've allocated sufficient headroom to handle it...
Nice... but 16 channels just doesn't work for me... especially if I am going to take full advantage of ART with multiple subs and Atmos with 4-6 overhead speakers.

I would definitely be wary of their durability in storage, but under normal living conditions in a home, I would think the newer ones would be safe for many years.
My guess is there are replacement options.
