The default format for the microphone in Window's sound control panel settings is already set to "2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)" (though it is greyed out): It's also set to 48 kHz in REW's preferences, as well as the "Make a measurement" box. Any other ideas what might cause...

Sorry I should have clarified, I'm using one of those cheap USB soundcards. This one supposedly has stereo mic input. Looks like I don't have enough posts on this forum to link to it, but it's locatable on Amazon under the brand Koopao.
